Tax shake-up for France
http://www.euronews.net/ The Paris government is planning to cut the amount that French companies pay in contributions to the state for health-care and pensions and make up the lost income with higher value-added tax on purchases.
The plan to raise sales taxes before April’s presidential election did not find favour on French streets. One woman complained: “Consumers will pay more for what they buy as the sales tax increases, which will reduce our purchasing power. That is not good news, and it’s not a very good start to the year.”

EU pushes US to exempt €150 billion worth of EU goods from Turnberry deal
Brussels is seeking carve-outs from the 15 percent tariffs imposed by Washington on EU goods under the trade agreement reached in Scotland in 2025. The list, obtained by Euronews, includes iconic products such as Roquefort cheese, olive oil and wine.

Trump reimposes US blockade and demands 20% Hormuz shipping fee
Trump declared the US would collect a 20% fee on all Hormuz cargo as “Guardian of the Strait,” flipping the script on Iran’s own toll demands, while US forces struck dozens of targets in Iran and the IRGC hit Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Oman in the biggest exchange since the April ceasefire.

Why does every country get it so wrong. It must be corruption that they would raise the VAT rate when CEO's and Directors are paying themselves the highest wages in recorded history. If you want to get the economies rolling again then you tax the rich, make offshore bank accounts illegal, ban derivatives trading and take the money back from the banks.
