    So Crimea is legally part of Ukraine but not in spirit, right? It belongs to Russia as per 100+ years of history, clearly. Not justifying a military takeover but it's clearly not de facto Ukranian either.

    Ukraine can't retake what was never theirs to begin with. In 2014 – a referendum was held & 95.5% voted overwhelmingly to be annexed into The Russian Federation 🇷🇺🐻

    As a child, I played Stronghold.
    My favorite tactic was to create a map with eight players (7 bots and 1 player me).
    Before that, in the map editor, I created a map on which I made an island out of the territory of my future castle, to which only one road led – the isthmus.
    After the start of the game, I built a castle and built up this isthmus with towers with archers. I made several levels of walls, towers and so on.
    It was a lot of fun to watch 7 bots send and send countless troops to my fortifications.

    I played with bots.
    I could not think that these bots would gain consciousness and begin to call themselves Ukrainians.

    Zelensky started talking about taking Crimea as a response to everyone saying Ukraine has lost. He said Ukraine would enter Crimea in dec 2022 and Russia would be out by jan 2023. Remember that Gen Milley said Ukraine should negotiate in oct/nov. More recently leaked pentagon documents tell a story that Ukraine's spring counter offensive isn't going to happen. Ukraine has thrown 80,000 troops into Bakhmut and will soon lose Bakhmut and 80,000 soldiers. The US propaganda machine tells the story that Ukraine can fight and win, knowing all that's happening is more Ukrainians are dying.

    Well said. It is as utterly predictable as were the victory against the Viet Cong in Vietnam and the victory against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The only problem is that the non-Ukrainian TLDR and the non-Ukrainian Zelenski are playing with the real lives of Ukrainians and not their own lives

    Don’t worry about destroying the canal feeding Crimea , Zelensky has already said to Ukrainians in Crimea to leave, so as not to hamper the Ukranian counteroffensive .

    If they stay , they willingly take the risk of death from missiles , and any shortage of water is incidental.

    How long will take to train the Ukrainian soldiers to operate them, much less FIX them when their damaged in combat on the battlefield??? THIS WAR IS OVER.. RUSSIA CONTINUES TO OCCUPY HALF THE LAND MASS THEY'VE CAPTURED! Russia has conducted a dozen massive attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure! It's cruise missiles and drones have methodically targeted power and heating stations..etc.
    Ukraine now faces a war that will trigger an economic free fall of 5 to 15 percent of GDP and galloping inflation of 20 percent!
    The combination of negative factors is more likely a demographic crisis, a significant destruction of the economy and the rise of poverty to more than 50 percent of the population await Ukraine,” MILLIONS.. have already migrated out of the Ukraine and they're not coming back, as fears of a Russian offensive persist, of a massive Russian attacks via Belarus, Moscow’s key ally!
    The U.S. economy is in decline, the dollar is weak.. the financial markets are teetering on the brink of disaster & the U.S./NATO are so threatened by the rise of China, Russia & The BRICKS alliance!     This is absolutely absurd. Nothing more than western projection propaganda and clickbait nonsense intended to deceive those who are not well informed about the war and/or gullible. I mean seriously Ukraine for the past MONTHS has been retreating and losing soldiers, equipment, and ground at an alarming and ever accelerating rate. They keep having to put off the offensive due to serious manpower shortages (lots of press ganging young kids and older men) just trying to find warm bodies. Trying for one more last gasp suicide charge/Ardennes Offensive 2.0. They have absolutely no capability to take Crimea. This is like saying in March of 1945 "How Germany can take New York!"

    Even if there wasnt a single Russian soldier in Crimea, you have a population that wants absolutely nothing to do with the Kiev junta who has targeted and terrorized them ever since Ukraine lost its sovereignty in the coup of 2014. The population there made up its mind and returned to Russia. The matter is closed

    Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of Zelenskyy’s office, said: "If we will succeed in achieving our strategic goals on the battlefield and when we will be on the administrative border with Crimea, we are ready to open [a] diplomatic page to discuss this issue,”. He added: “It doesn’t mean that we exclude the way of liberation [of Crimea] by our army.” The retaking of Crimea would come at high Ukrainian losses.

    Believe it when I see it, but I know there are Ukrainian divisions that have bern training abroad. All expectations were that winter was going to break the Ukrainians. And reports of Bakhmut’s inevitable fall have been going for weeks, yet they have bend on. You can’t write it off.

    It's ridiculous for The West to hamstring Ukraine into retaking Crimea. With Crimea in Russian hands, they could threaten Ukraine's sea lanes in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
    Russia must relinquish Crimea because Crimea is Ukrainian territory.

    Without taking back Donbass and Lugansk completely and block off the borders so that Russia will not be able come from those regions, Zelensky will not stand a chance with ground assault as he doesn't have Navy and his Air Force is very weak.

    A standard attack across the isthmus would be a death trap. They will have to come up with something really innovative to get into Crimea without massive casualties. A siege is far more likely.

    Crimea as a bargaining chip could end the war. Slowly pushing Russian out of the eastern parts of Ukraine would be a slow & bloody process.

    However if Ukraine retakes Crimea or even just begins sieging it, I think the Russian military might turn on Putin bringing a quicker end to the conflict.
