Jean Paul Gaultier Show – Paris Fashion Week Spring 2012 PFW | FashionTV – FTV

Published

on

http://www.FTV.com/videos PARIS – Jean-Paul Gaultier always wows us with his shows in some way. Whether it’s the breathtaking gowns or the style of his runway, we’re always stunned into submission when watching his sleek shows. The Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Paris Fashion Week did just that for us through the retro style of the show, which began without music in a style of a couture runway from the fifties. Narrations in English and French took the place of song and the models carried cards with their look numbers as they walked. Karlie Kloss sauntered in with her sassy swagger and the crowd nodded their head in approval while the rest of the models stood behind a rack of hanging clothes in the background where models were getting into their looks as the show was happening. Jean-Paul Gaultier stood in the background, letting his models take their walks one by one. It was like you had an exclusive look at all the behind-the-scenes, backstage action. Jean-Paul Gaultier seemed to go back to the roots of true, signature Gaultier–pinstripe blazers, lace, trench coats, negligees, ponchos, statement-making shoes, and stockings embroidered with art. There were tulle corsets and bodices, drapey gowns, and minidresses and Gaultier waited for the finale to parade his sleek lingerie.

Cinematic Rebellion by Jean Paul Gaultier for F/W 26-27, Paris Fashion Week

Published

on

Witness the full transformation of Gaultier’s most iconic codes in the fall/winter 2026-2027 show presented at Paris Fashion Week! Creative director Duran Lantink delivers a masterful second collection for the House of Gaultier, transforming the runway into a high-stakes casting call of subversive characters. Inspired by a vintage mesh T-shirt featuring the legendary Marlene Dietrich, Lantink channels her “caress and whip” energy to blend sweet grace with dominant disruption. The collection is a playground of hybrids: detectives, ravers, cowboys, and Fifth Avenue bankers all collide in a world where tailoring, sportswear, and “inside-out” philosophy reign supreme. Lantink’s approach stays true to his roots in upcycling and transformation, treating the Gaultier archives like a living organism. Key historical elements are resurrected and reimagined: the gathered waist of a 2016 pinstripe suit evolves into sculptural experiments, while a cropped bomber from the 80s returns alongside Fair Isle knits from 1990 repurposed as sleek base layers. The collection even flirts with Futurism and the bizarre, morphing rubber car tires into accessories and nodding to Pierre Cardin’s sculptural legacy. By turning the archive inside out – both literally and figuratively – Lantink proves that at the House of Gaultier, the only rule is the freedom to play.

Birds of Flight by Schiaparelli for S/S 26, Paris Haute Couture

Published

on

Explore the spring/summer 2026 haute couture show of Schiaparelli to truly witness the evolution of haute couture unveiled at Paris Fashion Week! This season, the Maison abandons the rigid, analytical question of what a garment should look like for the visceral, heartbeat-driven inquiry of how it feels to create it. The result is a collection that vibrates with “The Agony and The Ecstasy,” a commingling of the terrible and the exquisite that mirrors the wild, vulnerable human condition. The silhouettes of this collection are defined by a sense of dangerous beauty, with venom woven into the very seams. Roseberry introduces a new archetype of couture – the “Infantas Terribles” – reptilian and arachnid creatures that transform into heroes of the sky. Sharp strokes and rapid squiggles become scorpion tails, while stingers and snake teeth are reimagined as architectural triumphs. These birds of flight defy gravity through an explosive use of color and form, ranging from the vibrant pinks and saffron of birds of paradise to the deep, haunting shadows of the deep sea. This creative freedom is anchored by the absolute rigor of the Schiaparelli ateliers, who have pushed the medium to its technical limits. Hand-cut lace is rendered as a 3D bas-relief to create depth and shadow, while feathers, both real and trompe l’oeil silk bouquets, are hand-painted or dipped in resin and crystals. The “Isabella Blowfish” suit, a masterpiece of tulle and organza dusted with crystal shadows and finished with organza spikes, exemplifies this marriage of structure and fantasy. Every look pays homage to Elsa Schiaparelli’s fascination with animal life, using resin beaks and pearl eyes to create artificial bird-head sculptures that honor the majesty of nature without harming any animals.
