Cameron emerges battered from stormy debate
A stormy emergency session of parliament saw Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron defending his integrity and admitting he regretted hiring a journalist at the heart of a phone hacking scandal.
Analysts claim Cameron emerged from the debate looking battered but still standing after facing lawmakers in the row which has rocked the country.
Despite the Labour leader calling his appointment of a former News of the World editor, a catastrophic error of judgement, Cameron refused to apologise.

TotalEnergies service stations are accused of distorting competition as they display France’s lowest-priced fuel. Supermarkets that usually sell fuel as a loss leader to pull in customers are furious, along with independent service stations.

Houthis seize key Yemeni island in Bab el-Mandeb, taking control of the strait
Houthi fighters reached Perim Island which divides the Bab el-Mandeb into two shipping lanes after government forces withdrew, completing the group’s takeover of the strait. Together with Iran’s Hormuz blockade, this puts roughly a third of the world’s seaborne trade under hostile control.
