🔴 Albania receives first migrants from Italy under new bilateral agreement | euronews 🇬🇧

Join us live as Albania receives its first group of migrants under the five-year agreement signed with Italy in November 2023. This deal allows Italy to transfer migrants rescued at sea to centers in Albania, easing pressure on Italian facilities. Up to 3,000 migrants per month will be housed at Albanian reception centers where their asylum applications will be processed. The initiative is part of Italy’s broader strategy to manage increased migration across the Mediterranean Sea, where over 145,000 migrants have arrived in Italy this year. While hailed as a cooperation milestone, the agreement has sparked controversy, raising concerns about human rights and asylum processing standards.
