Imagine a 10km/h fender-bender with an EV that has the battery part of the frame like most EV. Approx 1000$ damage to the body but $23,000 to change the battery, so the insurance company just scrap the car. And high goes your insurance premium, if the battery didn’t explode and you’re still alive.

Just because Europe lacks a strong leader, so they choose to be running dogs of the America and follow a trade war with China despite realizing that will hurt themselves instead.
@tani123

It makes no sense at all. If it was a question of temporarily lowering prices in order to take over the market, then all the other companies would ignore it, continue to develop as usual and wait for the wave to stop, and after it stops, the Sunnis will have to raise prices a lot in order to compensate for all the loss prices, and then the Europeans will return to activity and gain market share Large at very profitable prices. China does not subsidize exports. This is not the problem of the European car companies, their problem is that they are outdated manufacturers unable to withstand the rapid changes in the car market, their problem is that the wages in China are very low, and the workers are very energetic, their problem is that one company is innovative and wants to make a change, and another company just wants to squeeze more A little before the era of fuel vehicles passes. A trade war is never a positive thing. Learn from history.

February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
It's not a trade war!!! This is a joke created by China. For years China was helped by subsidised shipping and minimal or no tariffs. Some of these companies get salty because they want free shipping still, so they call it a trade war. It is not a war. But international shipping should not be cost competitive with local manufacturers.
@ichbins173

So far it is unequal for foreign companies to invest in the closed of chinese market whilst chinese comapnies can invest freely in the european market. European companies (in europe) have to adhere to enviromental laws that affect the global community if not upheld whilst chinese companies (in china) don't. European companies have to accept breaches in their patents and intellectual rights if they want to sell in China like Mercedes having to accept chinese companies stealing the G class design or they would not be allowed to sell anymore. Also because China is growing more hostile towards allies and democratic countries in the region and is supporting russia, a country in conflict with EU, it is clear that the EU has to cut down on dependencies with China.
Since foreign (European) companies are treated unequal in China, chinese companies should be treated the same. Only allow benefits to trade partners that give you the same in return.

"Cheap Chinese cars." That's the problem. They're basically oversized toys with fancy blinking lights. If you're smart you never buy a Chinese brand, whether it's a car, a phone, a computer, or anything really. So, CEO's, can we actually just be paid fair so we could actually afford your expensive shit? Or do you really need five yachts and 20 prostitutes?

February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
I wouldn't take advice from France. France follows a different policy. They want to stay independent. That means they produce most of the things within their country. But this comes at a cost. The living standards in France aren't as high as in Germany.
@devalapar7878
February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
I mean why wouldn't you let China subsudize your country? If China subsudizes their products, that means they sell their products at a loss. And when they sell your their products, they are subsudizing your country as well.

China smartly targeted the electric vehicle market way back in 2006, before Tesla, and they are a significant reason for Tesla's achievement. It is fitting that they are the leaders in price and, on a limb, quality like Japan with ICE hydraulic cars. I love hybrids, AKA electric/electronic transmissions, and will have the lowest carbon footprint until 2045. But could Europe take the lead in water cycle energy? They can use North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula for development. Europe is challenging for Pluvicopia Technology. The book focuses little on Europe's potential, even though they may have the most significant technological need as the planet heats up and sea level rise (SLR) accelerates. Pluvicopia is the only theory that can control SLR.

Perhaps in a large part this is because of the oil companies. Wide spread belief that (especially American's) customers would never accept EV vehicles. Along come Tesla who was blocked by big oil and shunned by government as a "non competitor" and Tesla changed the thinking of the auto industry. NOW, battery technology is the #1 play and EV's are so far ahead of the curve that others are having a difficult time. All in all if you didn't get on the bandwagon YEARS ago, you'll still be chasing the battery problem at the end.

Gotta love macron, wasn’t he like almost best buds with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April 😂, I wonder what political issue he’s trying detract people from this time?
Also, eu and France know how to subsidise certain industries too so they aren’t really saints, but I don’t blame them doing it (to a point) either
@BatCountryAdventures
February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
It's "Dumping" if the country subsidize the produce so it will be mega cheap by the time it reach the target countries.
The typical EVs by BYD and Nio are HALF the price in China compare to how much they are sold in Europe. EVs are just THAT cheap over in China because they pushed for the development of the sector and supply chain for DECADES!
While BYD was struggling to perfect its battery tech, Volkswagen was lying about its diesel emission.
Also there will be a "Quartz Crisis" moment for the ICE makers in Europe. All the plants and machinery will no longer be assets to them because they can not be converted to make EV parts.
Resistance to Chinese EVs will be another 5G roll out and how Huawei systems were stripped out late into the installation stage. The end result is absolute chaos for a risk that even UK experts had labelled as easily controllable.
I think I have seen something similar. US did the same with Japanese cars during the 70s to 80s. This constant Yellow Peril is nothing new and is pretty much expected TBH.

The answer is simple: China is just better.
instead of wanting a trade war with China; simple take lessons and move on.
this is what China did to move forward. They crawled in the 90's so they can run in 2023
@Jeff-fz2nh
February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
I don’t think so. You want to trade ware between Europe and China.
@WTH1812
February 28, 2024 at 2:03 am
China is a big balloon, over inflating, about to pop. The car industry is but one example. Huge numbers of EV's are sold in bulk to fleets, registered, then parked in fields to rot.
EU and the US would do well to focus building the economies of Eastern Europe countries. All are underdeveloped, accessible for modern manufacturing, and can support many industries.
Instead of dumping money into China and getting back CCP subsidized low quality cutthroat competition, why not invest in Europe?
BTW: In about 15 years, the EV market will begin being supplanted by H2 (hydrogen) fuel, and sustainable non petroleum based fuel vehicles. The key will be large scale industrial trucks and heavy farm equipment, civilian aviation, ease of refueling, greater range, better performance, race worthy, and other markets that are and will continue to be impractical to use EVs.
