It's a dick move. "Oh, you're in crisis? You need our money? Just agree to this incredibly vague treaty that'll allow us to remove your voting rights and representation in the Union if you don't agree with us on any matter at all."
Ironically, it's similar to the dick move of the Law&Justice party, when they passed the most controversial law of thr decade when protesting was the least safe.

To put it simply: the EU bureaucracy is finally making itself a victim of its own rules. Plans didn't go as perfect as they thought would be (or someone who commands the thing from Who-Knows-Where thought they would). Now, my prediction is that Polish and Hungarian style oppostion will gain ground from now ahead in the Wester part of the Bloc.

It's abundantly clear some countries in EU is just in for grants of financial gains and refusing to tow the line of collective rules and laws, they want the cake and eat it, that said it would be better to do away with such countries out of the EU.

I go with Hungary and Poland personally. Both these countries have lived through extreme marxism where disobeying laws that were forced on you and which you didn't agree with were met with severe penalties even death and torture. These countries have a sense of what freedom is unlike the EU which continually writes stupid laws clogging up business and which don't allow freedom of conscience. I think Poland and Hungary should keep to their stand which in the long run would be much healthier for the EU and allow countries some kind of rule over their own countries.
@AnGelo-nv1hx

EU should have never open to the east, particularly to Poland and Hungary. I wonder why these 2 countries, which invariably oppose EU, won't leave the union? They probably are much better with Russia after the invasion, at least they already show similar dictatorial tendencies.

Why don't the EU sanction both Hungary and Poland as a single entity if that's the way they want to behave? And while they're at it why don't they simply toss Poland and Hungary out of the EU back to Russia to rot since they don't add much to the union anyway

Comments about vagueness were fair and the risk of it being used as a political weapon needs to be mitigated as much as possible but the EU needs a mechanism that can actually work to enforce democracy and rule of law. If my country ever starts to backslide on democracy I would also want them put under pressure to return to a more democratic way. I don't want to live in a non-democratic country with questionable rule of law.

I do not understand why western europe with us scandinavians create new Eu with harder requirments to join to make it more coherent. Then when the international agreements has been mate with other eu organisation the members could leave the eu. Its stupid to give one nation the ability block everything, it the majority instead that should have that ability.

These 2 countries are the worst and often draw others back ,and often problematic, why can't these counties quit Europe cos they are a draw back to European progress.

I am afraid of these funds. the last time my country received European funds on this scale, it was a disaster, a jumble of corruption cases that took years to resolve and still don't arrest these criminals today.

I believe it should just stay that way. For example than will Italy or Belgium next time with an impending Veto if they don’t like it.

Considering eu accused Poland of breach in human rights for not complying to human trafficing aka forced redistribution of illegal migrants, no wonder they vetoed this ridicilously written law.

Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and other Eastern or Central European countries must be contributed their shares to COVID relief fund.
How selfish these countries are? 🤮
Do you know all of you were extremely poor and third world countries before EU adding you into the union, pumping trillions € in infrastructures, invest heavily in industries in your countries, bailed you out when you were rotten to the bottom. 🤬
Also, Eastern and Central Europeans are working everywhere across Western Europe to make your lives better. 🤦♂️
Are these Eastern or central European countries only for sucking honey and taking all benefits from developed European countries??? 😳
It's not only they are suffering, whole Western Europe are going through the same. EU must be hard and tough to these countries, if they don't follow or respect the rules. 👈💯✅

I feel a bit betrayed by my government (Im a Czech) that we don't stand by our Polish and Hungarian brothers. The Czech republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia are the Visegrad four. Four countries of the central Europe and have quite similiar point of view on these things. Regrettably, a very pro EU liberal cow Čaputová was elected as a president of Slovakia, so there is no surprise that Slovakia goes with anything EU dictates.

its my understanding that its not the EUs money, its taken from the people of europe and for the most part against their will, each country taxes its people on the tired old trope of funding services for the people and then gives huge amounts of it to the EU reduceing how much that can be spent on the betterment of the people that have been taxed, then the EU an unelected body that serves no one takes that money and spends it on its self for the most part aganst the best intrests of the people that it has robbed, just like a drug dealer pimping out crack whores, if european countys had not given them this money in the first place they wouldnt have to beg for it now

There's one piece of information missing. Sure, the Council is blocked, but the EU Parliament can vote on any decision that is blocked in the Council. It just takes longer and can be delayed several times, but if there's a majority will for any decision, it can be taken in Europe. I don't think that the rules should change for the Council, it shouldn't take decisions that aren't unanimous.

I am becoming allergic to term "European values". What are those? Where are them written? Who agreed on them? When? Same goes for rule of law… what does it mean?
