When people are suffering due to a financial crisis and an inflation which is skyrocketing the last thing they are going to want to hear is that they have to retire later. Fun fact governments nowadays love austerity for the people but hate austerity when it comes to their own salaries.

So people in EU in fact do not decide anything. Why are you calling this regime a democracy?

Is the same issue in all the EU countries. The pension system is based in the current workforce to pay for the retired. But there is less and less young people and more elder. I simplify, but basically we want our pension while not making enough children and crying about immigration all the time. The only output is a reduction of the welfare state. Such reforms are happening all over the EU for demographic reasons, you cant postpone them forever. Kudos to Macron, a democratically elected leader, for having the balls to make an unpopular but necessary reform. French people, and everyone else: if you want to tackle this issue, stop complaining, stop la manif, and make babies :)) signed: a neighboor country citizen, with same issues and weak politicians, where pensions drain more and more from other useful spendings.
