Questions over whether the West could run out of weapons to send Ukraine have been asked since the war began, but how real a risk is it? Will Ukraine’s demand eventually exceed the West’s supply? And if it does happen, what can actually be done about it?

We have plenty of helpful weapons we can send to Ukraine as most of what we sent was older stock slated for the trash heap… with the exception of some munitions that we can churn out if we try hard.

During Covid and this war it has become clear than Europe hasn't got enough domestic production not just it in military industry, also food, electronic parts etc. Europe should be able to hold on its own and protect its continent. Nothing wrong with USA or others helping or doing trade. it's too late to cry over spilled milk.

One thing to point out. Russia has not been reporting its numbers accurately. They never had 13,000 tanks, we know this because they’re busting out the T-62 which means they have substantially less T-72s, T-80s, and T-90s than we thought to bring out tanks from the 1960s. So sure the war in Ukraine might be straining the West but Russia is actually unable to supply its troops.

  11. @noherczeg

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

I find it hard to believe that the total US defense industry would only be capable to manufacture a couple of dozens of HIMARS. They should have something similar, or multiple times more of those.

Ultimately this war is a battle of attrition, a battle Russia seems to be utterly losing. Eventually Russia is going to have to stop or else actually risk it’s national defense against other nations who might decide to take advantage of that.

Artillery shelling isn't old fashioned. It's just not effective against militias which is way the US doesn't do it

  17. @tobystevens3109

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

Depends on the location and the enemy. A war with China would be a naval battle, while sitting on mountains of unused artillery shells and tanks. Ground war in Europe – our ships are useless. Fighting in middle east where the enemy doesn't even wear uniforms and hide behind women – nothing works. Unless WWIII – don't want to think about that.

I have never built a bomb before however I'm pretty sure they have factories that just pump this crap out. And it would be remiss to think that the USA wouldn't be able to scale up production at the drop of a hat if the USA were ever in a direct conflict with another country.

  21. @daniels7907

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

No. But now that the GOP controls the U.S. House of Representatives they are explicitly stating that they will block aid to Ukraine because they support Russia.

  22. @Dennan

  24. @andrews.5212

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

You can have either quality or quantity.
Nato has specialized in quality with cuttingedge expensive equipment.
Which are good if you are NOT fighting an attritional war.
Russia has cheaper less fancy stuff but they can outproduce the west.
Every piece lost is extremely expensive and takes longer to make.

  25. @swissarmyknight4306

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

We may actually run out of artillery ammunition stockpile at some point. The ammunition consumption rate is astounding. Thing is, Russia will run out at some point as well, and we have more production capacity. Also, Ukraine just destroyed and captured a stupefying amount of ammunition from the Russians in this recent offensive. They have got to be starting to run low. Its time for the Defense Industrial Complex to go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

  26. @DauthEldrvaria

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

I’m glad everyone is in support of supporting Ukraine. Being attacked under the false pretense of being Zi’s and commuting genocide is such BS and if Russia didn’t have those nukes I’d be in support of countries getting personally involved.

But yea U.S.A. is making a killing on this war haha

  27. @ChrisVillagomez

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

Honestly, why don't we just send all the confiscated and illegal guns to the Ukrainians so we just straight-up get them out of the country permanently? Surely that solves the issue of having to destroy them, hold onto them, or auction them off slowly

  28. @michaeldavison9808

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

No, we will just make more. Who do you think made them to start with? Russia?

  29. @bansheee1

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

short answer is "no". Slightly longer answer western manufacturing capacity is may be 20 times more than that of Russia's.Just turkey can manufacture as much as Russia

  31. @atrebuchet5267

  32. @Sourdough444

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

What a dork, How much do you get paid for propoganda?

  33. @JLSMaytham

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

You criticise Europe for not having an arm's industry to help supply. France and UK both have and Macron in particular is annoyed that Germany plans to spend nearly all its recently increased budget on buying equipment from the US. Like warheads in UK, the US doesn't want competitors building weapons, it wants the money and the profits for itself and without competition, at prices it chooses.

  34. @JLSMaytham

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

Wow! What a magnificent inversion of logic
"Heightened risk of war means increased military spending"
When the truth is more like
"Heightened military spending means increased risk of war"

  35. @JLSMaytham

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

You do talk some awful twaddle!
"The Russian AirForce is effectively nullified" while the Ukranian Air Force roams free over the battle field? Led by the ghost of Kiev no doubt?
You imply that NATO has been supplying tanks but only ex Soviet machines and they can't find anymore. NATO is not sending Leopards, even old Mk1s and the Abrams is a non-starter for all sorts of reasons.
You have to admit that the continuing Russian missile strikes are pretty impressive for a country that was running out of missiles in April.
Bearing in mind that the USA spends more per year than the next ten countries COMBINED (including Russia and China), that NATO has sent $85billion+ to Ukraine since February (plus.lots before then) and that Russia's defence budget next year rises to $80billion – at the very least the Russians are getting very good value for money.

  36. @youthfor1nce

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

    I don't think so buddy

  37. @hardheadjarhead

    March 1, 2024 at 10:37 pm

The 13,000 Russian tank figure is highly misleading. The vast majority of those are rust buckets sitting in open air storage. Getting those running will take time and money…if it’s even possible.

Russia have a bit of ammunition left, and they have a lot left in potential man power. I dont think Nato should under estimate the resolve of Putin. Ukraine is taking one for the team. The least Nato could do is to dig a little deeper in their stockpiles. Nato have donated about 5% of their stocks. Russia is having massive problems with that. Russia will run out of men before they run out of ammunition. Ukraine have the opposite problem. Keep them armed! Nato should really not worry about running low on supplies yet. What is Putin to do? Attack Nato while Russia is getting their asses kicked in Ukraine? Nato have 6 million soldiers with fancy gear Russians have probably never even seen. There is a long way down until Natos capabilities cant defend against Russia.

We aren’t running out of anything. Ramping up production means we are preparing for war. We wouldn’t be sending things to them if we didn’t have enough for ourselves
