For those that are wondering how PP gained so many seats while PSOE also gained some: the liberal party "Ciudadanos" IMPLODED in the previous local and regional and thus did not contest in the general election.

I'm from the Canary Islands but live in Australia. The Spanish government mailed me out a voting package for the elections. Because I've been away from the Islands for so long, I wasn't confident enough to vote as there were parties I wasn't familiar with.

Sanchez has more chances of forming a government. You guys don’t know it, but PP and Vox have been throwing shit at all those smaller parties and they won’t make agreements with them anymore. I personally think we will go to another voting but it’s hard to tell who would win: Vox has failed and Psoe is up again. But what will the result be?
@beep1534
March 4, 2024 at 7:19 pm
Almost everything that is currently happening right now in Spain also took place right before the start of the Civil War last century.
The smaller, more radical left parties, which barely have anything in common, joining together in one big attempt to stop the right from winning is the perfect example.
Sadly, a country that forgets its history is doomed to repeat it, and the manipulation of spanish history these recent years in order to divide and bring into conflict the spanish people into two main sides, further troubles me regarding the future of Spain.

Spanish here! The way I see it, the only winner here has been Sanchez, after awful 4 years of lies after lies and leaving Spain deep in debt, not only has he not sunk, but he has added 2 seats, and the biggest looser is not Vox ( I'll explain later) but PP (sounds so weird in english!), as all polls were giving him a great win with 150/160 seats, which was quite unreasonable and unbelievable (Feijoo didn't even attend the last debate with some bs excuse as if he had already won the elections), which could have been a strategy from the party to switch Vox voters to PP to be seen as the "useful vote" and probably caused left over Vox votes to go to bigger parties, as PP, but also PSOE, which could explain the decrease in votes to Vox, who did lost seats, but did quite well, considering many traditional media wouldn't interview them or just outright criticize them (I know it sounds dramatic, and it's true that on the internet it's fair game, but even right wing outlets would drive hard criticisim against Vox, eventhough in theory, they'd be closer in ideology, in contrast with other parties that may too have been criticized but were at least given more interviews and backed by their own medias).
Another point to the video: although PP and Vox are defined as right and alt-right, in ideology, PP is in present days closer to center (center left depending on times) than actual right which was the reason of many to switch to Vox, as they felt their interests weren't backed by PP anymore (I'm sure this could also be said by many voting Sumar/Podemos, but while PSOE competes with them for the left vote, PP actually tries to compete, not only with Vox for right votes, but also with PSOE for left votes -in fact he went to said he'd rather pact a goverment with "good socialists than Vox-, which should explain it better).

As a native spanish I can confirm that although Feijoo has won due to having more votes than the socialist block, Spain is bleeding out thanks for Sanchez's administration. Unfortunately, our situation doesn't seem to be going to improve any time soon unfortunately 😔
