The Evolution of AI: A Journey from Alan Turing to ChatGPT

In the first episode of our AI 101 series, embark on the journey of artificial intelligence. Discover how it has evolved, from Alan Turing’s groundbreaking test to the emergence of ChatGPT. A fascinating voyage through the history of the science of artificial intelligence. 🤖

💡 It all begins in England in 1950, when the mathematician Alan Turing invents the famous imitation game. He seeks to prove that a machine can simulate human intelligence. The challenge: to engage a human in dialogue with two interlocutors, one of whom is a machine. If you can’t distinguish the machine from the human, the machine wins. This feat was only accomplished in 2014!

🌟 In 1956, during a conference at Dartmouth, AI finally becomes a distinct discipline. In the years that follow, businesses, governments, and even the U.S. military show keen interest, investing heavily in research. It marks the first golden age of AI.

🔧 However, the 1980s bring about a technical obstacle: the limited power of computers. It would take the era of Big Data in 2010 to fully unleash AI’s potential, thus launching the second golden age.

🚀 Quickly, Elon Musk and Sam Altman seize the opportunity, creating OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, a name on everyone’s lips today.

In my opinion Europe and America must focus on Scientific AI, how to build new proteins and batteries , how to re – arrenge atoms to get fuels and energy from soil, rocks, seawater and sun photons , how to build practical solutions. On the other side, the gossip & celebrity and superficial AI, let's remember that OpenAI, co-founded by Elon Musk and others and financed by Musk, was originally " Open – Source " and " Not – For – Profit ", since AI feeds on everything that everyone has said, written, done and posted on the Web since the early 90's, without paying anyone for anything, so it had to be Open Source and Not for Profit , but later , the new CEO Altman , went " For Profit and Closed Source and sold to Microsoft for $ 10 billion , and the abuse and disaster started.
