Following years of protests, riots, and strikes, Emmanuel Macron is very unpopular, with the current polling suggesting that he is one of the least popular leaders in Europe. But, does any of this even matter to a president who is leaving soon?

Well the French never like their politicians

He didn't tell he wanted to "piss them off". It's not strong enough of a word to translate how rude he was then. It's more like "He told them to fuck off" or something like that. Again, not a perfect translation, but you get the idea

Im French and in my opinion 30% is quite popular.
To be honest, it's more about the Fifth Republic, which was necessary back when it was founded bt not anymore. It gives too much power to the President and not enough to Parliament, so it does feel like electing a king, and then electing some kind of counterbalance in the Législatives, and then that's about it. Not much control over anything, no referendums or anything, we just sit there and watch. So obviously when Macron engages in something people don't like, they feel powerless and angry, but it's the same situation as with Hollande and Sarkozy.

Macron has also had fairly good position and did many things for the greater good of the country, but it's hard to make a French person admit that.
Finally, he was elected TWICE, so really, we all know that he's not that bad, or at least, not as bad as we'd like to believe.

He is authoritarian, conservative, narcissistic and a pure product of the neoliberal elite, supported by the richest people on earth so they can push their own agenda and be in power by proxy. In sever years of "reform", everything went backwards, inequality has never been that high, billionaires still don't pay any taxes , even Bernard Arnaud benefits from a "special treatment". Nothing gets done, expect to continue the austerity policy and giving fiscal gifts to the richest people in France who benefited the most from the covid economic recovery.

They hate every single one of their Presidents and politicians. It's a national sport. If you ask the french what is the problem with that one in particular they will answer either something vague with 0 data or "retirement age went from 62 to 64 (which is absolutely normal).

While I get that the French are mad about the pension reform (Hell: What Macron did is anti-democratic! I mean I hate those republics we have, as there's is simply no truly democratic country! The Swiss get close, but even they aren't truly one! Still, that Macron used some legal mumbo-jumbo to bypass parliament? Damned, parliament should have reacted harshly and probably called a vote of no confidence!), but frankly it's laughable! 64? In Germany it is 67 and will probably rise soon to 70! So bitch, please 🙁

Macron est pire que les précédents, tout en continuant le meme jeu que ces derniers prédécesseurs.
He sold Alstom to GM, that s an example why i dont like him.
he is president for his own profit.

he is hated because he took hard decisions

  19. @bluesky2vinci

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

the constitution article you were talking about, the 49.3, was used 23 times for the pension reform (which theoretically pushes the retirement age to 64, but in facts most poeple will have to work until 70 even if they work a physically dangerous job), and budget laws as well (minimalizing public spending notably in healthcare, education or general infrastructure while making financial gifts to the top richest people and corporations). It is important to remember that this article is highly undemocratical, and that its current use has been sabotaging our democracy since he was reelected on fake promises. When even the national assembly and its representatives can’t work anymore, people obviously went onto the streets and protest. No surprise there, these protest, intentionally peaceful, were extremely severely reprimanded by the police, under the decision of macron’s home secretary Gerald Darmamin, his favourite for many reasons. People on the streets, who just demanded social consideration and the respect of our democracy, got beat up, surrounded by the police and pushed back into tiny streets were they can suffocate in the gas used by the police or be the target of their other weapons (many war-classed weapons are allowed for the police to use in france, contrary to anywhere else in the western world. People have lost eyes, hands, feet while others have died. This is why people hate macron, and most French people live terrified nowadays, and this all starts with macron.

  23. @catherinepeloton4446

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Because he was elected by less 22 %of the french electors (22% for macron 20 % for le pen 19 % for melenchon…) so at least 70 % are his opponents because he is a banker working only for the millionnaires and because he is arrogant ,sadistic and the employee of the deutsche bank, selling all the good french companies to foreigners. He's hated and was nearly murdered on december 2019 in the last seconds saved by his bodyguards, escaping from a fire from a city hall!!!

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

To be even shorter and direct.

Macron is a traitor, like his entire gouvernement and like a huge part of our politicians. We have been under high treason for 40 years. And since Macron obeys Davos, BlackRock and Mckinsey, in their agendas to destroy and replace our countries. You got France in its current form. Dying.

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Yeah a world where ppl approve or dispprove.
Like a lot of ppl in the country just don't care. They don't approve nor disapprove him, they just don't care cause he don't care either about them.
You can't build any serious analysis upon such a rigged stat. Ppl don't have just ONE opinion and the world isn't like ppl want us to believe it is.
It's a bit sad that those bad analysis got so much credit.
You can't argue something when the premices are wrong.

  29. @vanduke5148

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

This title is absurd. Did he or did he not recently won the election? If he would be so unpopular like the statistics and this channel assume so he wouldn’t win the election.

  30. @Pablo24000

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Why Macron is so unpopular because its project is :
    – let the invasion of France by thousands of migrants happening
    – Destroy French identity and French culture
    – let the EU commission and the witch Von fer Leyen control over the all country
    – let France be a puppet state of Germany and the US
The list can goes on and on, the day Macron leaves his office, it will be a day of celebrations in France !!!!

  31. @riviereeric7004

    February 10, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Because this is France… Ever since Chirac change the presidential term from 7 to 5 years, there is no more "mi-term election" to change the parliament during the president's term. Since then, Chirac ended his second term with about 20% popularity. Then Sarkozy was at around 30% and lost re-election to Holland who ended up with a record 11% popularity and didn't even dare to run for a second term… Compare to them, Macron is actually quite in the norm of unpopularity for every French president since the start of the 21st century ^^

Fascists were whining about a mask and a vaccine but they want a dictatorship, they deserve Macron as president.
