It would be nice to hear some real numbers regarding the former GDR because it seems the fact, that East Germany was kind of the "China" regarding manufacturing, is well hidden. What terrible things West Germany and its trust hand, "Treuhand" did, destroying almost all of GDRs functioning factories and jobs, is all to well hidden. Now, Germany has a government that is not just extremely uneducated and ignorant, it is also full of hate against Germany and anybody who things different than the Green-Red parties. Germany is splitting more and more, thanks to the "dictatorship" of Green-Red.
And what about the truth regarding the blown up Northstream pipeline? Germany now wants to build Gas power plants and operate them with LNG that is much more expansive. I live in Germany and the US and I can see the decay that German arrogance, ignorance and hate causes. Half the truth is still half a lie!
Btw.: How about a news-report about the ex GEZ now "Beitragsservice", that finance German public broadcast station. People go to jail and getting financially ruined if they do not pay the forced fee!!!

Most problems from Germany has theirn routs in the 16 years of cdu under merkel. They had the boom-years but doesnt use them to invest in the future. Now the current gouverment has to clean up their mess and do new laws witch are unconftable but nacessary for a climate neutral future. They even has to do them very strict and hard for the people cauls many of them sould been made 8 years ago but got layed down cauls of their unconftableness.
I hope my english is understanable, I'm not a nativ speaker

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire..

Beautifully done. A parallel to early 2000's isn't quite appropriate though:
Back then, Germany had an issue with getting well-educated people into jobs due to strict labor laws regulating labor costs (=wages + taxation, social security contributions), working hours, layoffs to an extent that was effectively strangling.
Nowadays, Germany lacks the educated workforce – it's own population has grown too old, or is poorly educated and/or motivated, and the immigration that takes place can't fill in those gaps torn by retirements (highly qualified academics hardly ever decide to migrate to Germany; instead, it's usually folks with hardly any scholar education that come here).
@russelltimmerman3771
February 15, 2024 at 12:05 pm
You left out demographics. Germany is very old, it won't have the native workforce to mass manufacture in the near future.
@Tomnolan90
February 15, 2024 at 12:05 pm
Things are a bit strange right now. Inflation is making the US dollar weaker for buying things, but it's getting stronger against other stuff. So, stuff like stocks, houses, crypto, and precious metals aren't doing so great because folks are putting their money into dollars for safety. I'm worried about my $320,000 savings losing value fast.

On the screen with nordstream pipelines. Why it is Putin saying "no gas for you"? Do you know that they are blown up by some terrorists? Or you pretend that you dont? Both variants kinda stupid imho.

Once UK stopped its budget contributions, the pyramid scheme started to fall, the less successful the country, the less contributions it has to pay to the budget.
For example since 2016 it was predicted by citizens that UK would pay a fee annually when in actual fact we have saved nearly 300 billion in EU vanity projects, 14 per cent of the 800 billion covid fund, and we are also saving billions in benefits contributions to economic migrants. Most of these savings for UK have now been put on Germany, leading to high annual deficit in budget, this on top of oil and gas prices will be Germans downfall.

The current generations of German voters are completely to blame for this. They voted to shut down nuclear power and buy Russian gas instead.
Then when it blew up in their face they blamed the politicians they themselves elected, and have started voting for the Neo Nazi AFD!

stupid Germany government to cut off gas and oil from Russia and make it people buy more expensive gas and oils. Germany should not jump into the Ukranian war and business because Ukranian and Germanian not the same and if Ukranin wipe out from the map its not German business to worry about, the duty of the Government is to make Germany to good standard of level does not bring it down to dark ages and they are doing today

The EU has a 400 billion trade deficit with China, 84 billion of that is down to Germany, until fairly recently Germany was still in surplus with China. The deficit has doubled in the last 2 years.
The MSM doesn't discuss trade deficits too much, as if there is no consequence. That 400 billion deficit is a transfer of jobs and wealth from Europe to China, the more the deficit increases, the more the EU economies will suffer. The richer China will get. The US has a similar deficit with China, eventually China will own the whole world, all because the EU and USA decided to let their factories close and move to China.
This deficit has been allowed, even encouraged by the EU. There is another benefactor, along the way the Apples, Walmarts and Amazons are making extra profits out of the transfer of wealth.
We chose short term greed over long term security and from now on we will pay heavily, very heavily, I hope all the cheap gadgets and plaster board we got from China was worth it.

What did Germany have in the years other countries envied it for its economic strength? What was the unique factor other countries with otherwise comparable economies didn’t have?
Answer: cheap Russian gas.

I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

Europe as a whole is stagnant. The US GDP is already 10 trillion higher than the Eurozone. Britain is stagnant not because of Brexit, but becuase Europe has taxed and regulated itself into stagnation. And no, bringing foreigners from third world countries and a completely different culture won’t help, quite the opposite.
