The final frontier: astronauts on ISS tell euronews about humanity’s future in space

Published

on

The future of space exploration, the emergence of the private space sector and daily life in orbit were among the topics Euronews’ Claudio Rosmino discussed with two astronauts on board the International Space Station:

Terry Virts, the current ISS commander and Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian female astronaut spoke to Claudio directly from their orbiting space lab.

What’s the guy talking about? We went to the moon over 50 years ago six times !! with no problems at all !! well except for that drama that Stanley Kubrick wrote …. you know about having a problem!

One thing to understand for you who aren't space nerds: When he says "We can't go farther right now." Hes saying we don't make rockets capable of going that far anymore, because there is no demand. We in fact DID have rockets that could go to the moon, at least the US did. We proved it multiple times, leaving a mirror on it to shoot lazers at to figure out it was slowly getting farther away. The difference is now we are not in a Space Race, therefor not trying to out do our adversaries in space which was the whole reason we went to the moon in the first place. I swear to God people on the internet have like, 3 brain cells. On a side note, we do now have rockets capable of going to the moon, including the SLS from NASA and the Space X BFR. Again, there needs to be a reason for us to go there. Moons Haunted.

Should have asked “then how did we land man on the moon in the 60s? How did these men live on for decades without dying of radiation?”

Now NASA can’t even send men beyond low earth orbit (250 miles above the earth) because they haven't developed the technology yet, therefore it's impossible that 50 years ago they sent men to the moon (1000 times farther). This is another piece of absolutely undebunkable evidence that the Moon landings was a scam. Thank you Terry and Samantha.

Mercury, Gemini, soyuz, skylab, space shuttle,  all maintained altitudes well below  1000 miles all except apollo missions!  It was said that the space shuttle which was newer technology and better protected than the moon mission capsules,  it flew to an altitude of 350 miles! With that the astronauts complaining of seeing stars hitting there eyes from the radiation penetrating the space shuttles protected shielding,  CNN news reported that the van allen radiation belts were more powerful than nasa expected!  The Van Allen radiation belts start from 1000 miles to 25000 miles!  quite a long distance yet we were to believe the moon missions flew through all that there and back safely..Yeah! Right!

    TERRY VIRTS SPEECH.
Well, that’s a great question. The plan that NASA has is to build a rocket called SLS, which is a heavy lift rocket. It’s something that is much bigger than what we have today, and it will be able to launch the Orion capsule with humans on board as well as landers or other components to destinations beyond Earth orbit. Right now we only can fly in Earth orbit, that’s the farthest that we can go, and this new system that we’re building is gonna allow us to go beyond and hopefully take humans into the Solar System to explore. So the Moon, Mars, asteroids… there’s a lot of destinations that we could go to and we’re building these building-block components in order to allow us to do that eventually.

    NASA ENGINEER  SPEECH.

Radiation like this could harm the guidance systems, on-board computers or other electronics on Orion," Smith says. "Shielding will be put to the test as the vehicle cuts through the waves of radiation… We must solve these challenges before we send people through this region of space."
