1 year later, we're finding out that Bulgaria's president – Rumen Radev, is basically a Kremlin spy. We're finding out that all the corruption that has been plaguing us for the last 30 years is all connected to Russia.

Truth is that corruption in Bulgaria can never be extinguished. This country is dying so fast thanks to the politicians that are imposed for 20 years from EU and US, although the communism was worse this isn't much better.

As a Bulgarian abroad, I want to shed some light on the situation. So, the new ''anti-corruption'' party isn't so ''anti'' if you know what I speak. They purchased gas fossils from Russia that cost thousands of taxpayers several winters ago. They did circle the EU's rules by buying it from third-party companies and countries still fueled by Russia. Second, the Bulgarian electoral map is extremely divided in terms of elections. There are two groups. One that lives in Bulgaria and the second one which I'm into that lives in westerner countries. I hope there's no need to tell both groups doesn't like each other. This is because when the USSR collapsed, a huge cut of the Bulgarian population left. According to the constitution, they can vote abroad, but their vote shouldn't be counted. They vote because they can despite the fact they don't know Bulgarian. Many parties use such votes as the ''anti-corruption'', the pro-Russian Revival, and the Turkish one.

And now the new anti-corruption party has turned out to be more corrupt than the previous one! In a leaked 4-hour recording of their meeting, they managed to show national treason, electoral treason, moral treason and European treason, and in it they even managed to compromise Ursula!

Update:
The new anti-corruption party formed a government and held on for 8 months, then got taken down (by vote) from the opposition (the previous ruling parties – GERB/ГЕРБ, DPS) due to complex reasons too long to describe.
When the new anti-corruption party proposed a new commission for anti-corruption, the proposal seems to have gotten shutdown.
Now Bulgarians are going to another election on 02/10/2022. Wish 'em success and hope they get out of the 30 year transition period.

wow watching the backlog and literally today the current government dissolved. It seems the general consensus is that while local corruption was easy to fix, national corruption has been caused by Russians and their misinformation and is impossible for such a small government to stem.

Honestly I wish America would have a party with just anti-corruption as its only goal. Just a campaign slogan of “Hey let’s just stop bickering for a few election cycles and tackle corruption. Then we can come back to our disagreements in a political system that isn’t completely broken.

I would also add that Borisov's success with GERB attracted a lot of well-educated politicians, hence why I feel there hasn't been a good alternative party. I wish there was a way these newer guys could find a way to communicate with GERB, since on paper they should have the same goals. Instead, they are acting in total opposition, which I feel is counterproductive. Still unsure how a coalition of democrats, centrists and socialists found common ground but GERB is out of the picture completely.
