The actor who portrayed Rochus Misch in the German movie Der Untergang, Heinrich Schmieder, died in 2010, aged 40, three years before the actual Rochus Misch died at the age of 96.

James O' Donnell–author of "The Bunker"—interviewed Misch for his book. He remarks that Misch struck him as "a man who was not particularly bright". He also remained a dedicated Nazi to the end.
