I believe that the idea that if EU becomes a super power, they might take the same steps as they have in the past. history has a funny way of repeating it self.

If the US can destroy a major European pipeline and ya’ll just meekly accept it, the idea of European “autonomy” is pure fantasy.

Macron is a cretin, I doubt that the average juvenile would have trouble "playing" him. A truly memorable politivian on the same level as Nevile Chamberlain (if you don't know your WW2 history, now is a good time to brush up).

Yes France give money to european nation such as Poland or Lituania but they prefer buy US armement than French one, that's the problem, France don't want to be a vassal of another power but Poland and estern Europe try all they have to become one.

Does EU got played by America? And is UK being played by US too? The break away from EU by the UK, was a stupid move, it weakens UK, it weakens EU, so have they been played and toyed by the USA and too embarrassed to admit it?

The EU needs to woo India and invest there. India is closer to Europe, and is a geopolitical adversary of the CCP, if we invest heavily in India in return for military arrangements we may have a chance!!

To be honest I actually think isolationism is the best choice for the United States. If the European Union wants to become a superpower I actually support it. Let Europe take care of itself and not involve Us in any of their wars in the future. Besides U.S should be neutral. Why because 70% of Americans want the United States to become an isolationist Nation like New Zealand, their people are much happier being neutral.

  24. @cy9nvs

    February 18, 2024 at 2:31 pm

To some degree, he's obviously right.
I think a lot of decisions that didn't benefit or even hurt the EU were only made, because of US influence. But we would need a much better military for us to stand on our own. It's just much easier to rely on the US' firepower, forever kissing America's ass, even though they'll throw us under the bus the second they can benefit from it. See the “Inflation Reduction Act”.

Macron: "Europe should NOT get involved in non-European affairs. Also, we should distance ourselves from the USA."
Also Macron: "AMERICA SHOULD SAVE US FROM RUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

When Europe is invaded America may decide it is not there crises in future. Macron wants a centralised EU with a single army decided by that unaccountable committee, this would be implemented regardless of public opinion.

    February 18, 2024 at 2:31 pm

No. China just showed better wisdom and commonsense. Wins every time.

The US plays you. Every ally feels the regret of this. China just wakes you up from your foolishness. Nothing more.

  29. @liviuadrian1101

    February 18, 2024 at 2:31 pm

Nothing wrong with what Macron said. The reason for his words to be seen as polemic is because the EU is waking up too late. For far too long the EU has been used to enjoy prestige economic prosperity without doing much to build its own relations and security. EU – China trade agreements were built by the USA and the EU benefited from the vast supply of cheap goods that were available due to american financial companies building those markets. While the USA was building trade agreements with South Asian countries, the EU stood there waiting for the results. Trump and his isolationist understanding of trade stopped those projects and started an economic war that would have happened anyways and democrats are following the same path on their own way. Meanwhile the EU realizes 😮 that now they are caught in a conflict they neither prepared for and are neither able to afford without major economic downfall that the USA will not suffer. Russia has been vital for the EU economic development due to the amount of gas and already built supply infrastructure by the USSR, making it cheap and fast to receive all the gas needed rather than by buying liquid gas. When oil and gas fields where discovered in Ukraine, the EU followed the USA decision of calling Russia a Gas Station with Expiration Date. And expected a Nationalistic Russia to not retaliate in any way while waiting for a certain downfall that even their own media constantly talked about. The EU supported the USA idea of buying time for Ukraine to build a powerful and modern army with the Minsk agreements, and to stop Russia from intervening in the Donetsk and Luhansk civil war (which Putin admits as being a mistake, for acting too late). But somehow when Russia invaded the EU was caught unprepared and threatened by an energy crisis, and that slowed them to react.

Now the EU finds itself with a re-established commitment to a NATO that the USA will use to force europe into implementing new sanctions on China for a trade war that doesn't benefit Europe. + The EU will play a secondary role of legitimizing the US sanctions without a say. The EU trying to reduce dependency on China, is good but comes too late, in the middle of a Trade War means that Europe will have to play a balance game in order to avoid sanctions from China or the USA.

As an european I am happy to see the EU claim to build its own future rather than relying on the USA economic influence or China's manufacturing. But I doubt anything but chaos, uncertainty and crisis reaction rather than prevention will happen any time soon. It's only normal that this is the case when the EU realized they need to care about this things when we were threatened to freeze in winter and lose all of our manufacturing capacity. But maybe now that the Brits no longer sabotage the EU from within, we may see decisive actions being taken as a group rather than 27 member states trying to balance negotiations with 2 superpowers.

It will be cool watching Marcon's expiation of how 130nm chips are all that anyone needs, as it's all that Europe can make when TSMC gets all blown up. And that's not a very big plant.

You know what I find pretty funny. People really forget how good they have it with the US. The US isnt perfect.. but please name another Super power in HUMAN HISTORY that instead of annexing countries into their countrol , they set up an alliance of EQUAL PARTNERS. IN NATO we are all mutual ranking members.. and please name another super power that doesnt force smaller countries to join their sphere of influence. Thats Russia's game.. We arent like that. Macron seems to think his country , and all of Europe, would be better with China, or Russia? By all means then.. good luck. But when China turns against you, and traps your entire country in a debt trap for generations, like Pakistan , like Sri Lanka… Look at those countries and how well they're doing. That's what you want for your country? for your people? The US doesnt really ask for anything except you be a part of our alliance and to spend 2% on Defense. Thats really it.
Europeans are (no offense) very ungrateful for everything AMericans have done for them over the decades. The trillions we've spent rebuilding and investing into your countries, the billions of tax payers money we spent on YOU instead of here at home.. and to hear Europe talk about America like they do… As an American its very frustrating. I know we're not perfect.. I know we have issues just like any country, but atleast we're trying to do better.. which is a lot more then some other "powers" i can think of.

    February 18, 2024 at 2:31 pm

France find a new Nation when you need help and your stabbing America in the back and we have a long memory and EU you can find someone else to fight your battles from now on cause once you thought Russian military can't attack you you dumped NATO quick so screw NATO Nations Americans have really good and kissing China's ass Trump for president now

Fine then let France and the EU deal with Ukraine and
Russia on their own. We Americans will stay out
of it. So glad we broke the nuclear submarine deal with
this traitor. Our true alliance is the U.K., Canada, Australia,
and N.Z. and not France!! Anyone who thinks otherwise
is an idiot and naive!! Lastly, if France or other EU countries get attack by the Russians, the very first country they will seek is the good old U.S of A!! Guarantee!!
