The Loyalist/Nationalist thing really is a bizarre opener. That division is not to be found in Ireland. However unfortunate many people might find it, it is currently to be found in the UK, which is to say Northern Ireland. Clumsy. In Ireland recognition of and support for Palestine is much more a matter of our shared history of colonization. We know what colonizers look like and how they sound, the language they use to justify their crimes and dehumanize the colonized. We know what is like to look on in disgust as those who claim to struggle on our behalf resort to atrocities and we know what it is like to have those atrocities used to dismiss the struggle itself.

I’m glad that you mentioned the relationship of Ireland and Israel in the formation of their respective states Ireland and Israel. Ireland became a republic in 1948 and Israel became a nation again in 1948 . Ireland only received 75%of It’s national land and 75% of Israel was given to the Arab Muslims with the formation of Jordan . So Israel received only 25% of their ancestral lands and Ireland received 75% of their ancestral lands. The Arab Muslims occupy over 99.9% of the total land in the Middle East which leaves only less than 1% for Jews Christians and others. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and has more than 2 million Arab Muslims living within their borders with full citizenship and rights. No Jew or Christian has rights to live in anyone of the 50 Islamic nations

This video starts out by completely misrepresenting Ireland. Ireland is a Republic. We don’t have loyalists!! You may be referring to Northern Ireland? That part of Ireland is owned by the British since 1922 and does have Loyalists. The neutrality policy of Ireland means that we don’t go to war. It doesn’t mean that we won’t speak up when international crimes against humanity are being committed. There is no comparison between the attempts of Irish people to be rid of colonial rulers and the manipulative creation of the state of Israel! Israel was never ‘a minority state being oppressed by colonial forces’! Of course Ireland criticised the illegal settlement by Israelis in the West Bank – they are illegal! The fact that the person making the video didn’t even take the time to learn the correct pronunciation of the Irish Political party, Fianna Fail, says it all. Overall this video is overly simplistic and demonstrates that ‘a little knowledge is a dangerous thing’

As an Irish person I don't fully side with Palestine, and anyone who knows more than what Tiktok has told them and has the ability to be rational shouldn't either. There is no good and bad in this situation. Palestine is far from innocent. They could have ended this conflict long ago by agreeing to share the land with Israel but chose not to. Sorry, but I cannot back a people who have openly said they want every Jew to die and have been bombing Israel for so long. People only side with them because Israel has been so good at defending itself and Palestine has not. I don't agree with what Israel is doing, but can sort of understand why they wouldn't want a country who plans to wipe them out to become powerful or independant. In the end Israel was willing to compromise in the name of peace many times and Palestine refused every time. These are simply the facts. Both have reasons to feel they should be there but only one was willing to share.

Do the Irish just not like Jews in general? They should because Jews and Irish immigrants to the US were subjected to the same extreme discrimination in the late 1800s and early 1900s. And then both groups supported each other pretty well politically.

  27. @BalmforthGG

How and why it is possible for a tiny population can do what ever it wants even atrocities over civilians. Not only children, women, elderly and hospitalized people, even a man killed, he maybe the father and the sole who sustains his family needs, so his dead is almost the worst thing that happen to a family.

Palestinians have the right for freedom, so why US, UK, Cad, EU and some countries Governments don't support Palestinians like they support Ukranian. The only answer we can get : that the US and some EU / Western countries set their freedom view, it is not for everyone.

It's just one of the paradoxes of the Irish. They fought to get rid of colonial rule, now they are supporting colonists from Arabia 1600 years ago, rather than the Jews whose presence dates back to Abraham's birth in the West Bank 3600 years ago. As someone else commented here, if you go to the North the Israeli flags are flying.

Eamonn develera was a British spy and was for the Anglo Irish treaty he had a hatred for the Irish and his zionist support for Israel is no surprise considering Adolf Hitler was a zionist before world war 2 Adolf Hitler was also half Jewish because he had a Jewish grandfather who he plotted to murder also irelands struggle with Israeli zionists goes back to the year 1917 when a horrible former British prime minister called Arthur balfour signed the balfour declaration which would lead to the creation of a Jewish state called Israel in 1948 and the eventual Israeli invasion of Palestine in 1948 the very same arthur balfour played a key roll in the partition of Ireland in 1921
