Why is so much attention given to what this failed goalie has to say?

I agree with what she is saying as players can't guarantee that they are going to be able to provide autographs etc for every fan that wants them, regardless of whether the fan is a child or not. However, while individual players cannot be expected to make themselves available all the time, there have been occasions where womens football as an organisation, could have made more effort to make itself more accessible for fans in a more general sense. One example of this was after the Euro win. Fans from all over the country supported and played their part in helping England Women on their way to lifting that trophy, yet the only place they showed it to the fans was in London. Would it have been too much trouble for them to perhaps, parade it in Birmingham or Manchester too? Same old London-centric FA.

Highly disgraceful and disrespectful question from the press directed towards Mary Earps. Fans can’t keep hounding professional female players for autographs, pictures and memorabilia. It’s not right and it’s intrusive, especially right after competitive matches. Furthermore, impossible to do in sold out national stadiums, across the country as it is detrimental to fan safety.

This is the trade off, people signed a petition to get her jersey on the shelves, now signing autographs is too much to ask?🤔🤦

They whinge about having not enough fans and then they whinge when they finally have some. The way the media have over inflated these silly cow’s egos is actually atrocious

It has to do with all sports, male and female all around- these are human beings who play a game for a living, they’re normal people like you and me. The idolatry of celebrities drives me crazy, and it’s something I’ve fallen into as well.

This is a trade off for the women’s game having a higher profile. All the things that are championed in the women’s game will be lost if the media, administrators and players are pushing the game to follow the men’s game. Being a billion pound industry as Karen Carney and Alex Scott have mentioned means the women’s game will lose the wholesomeness with big sponsors come obligations and distance from fans.

People need to realise that they’re human too, it would be overwhelming for anyone, even the biggest celebrities.
