UPDATE: The new election looks likely to be held at the end of June rather than July as PM Mitsotakis says June 25th is a possible date. Also at the end of the video we way he is on course for another four terms; this should obviously be "another four-year term"!

Correction: New Democracy nowadays isn’t a purely conservative party, but rather Liberal-conservative, having a strong center-right side.

I like how you just pass over a party which represents a good amount of greeks was banned, while literally communists can run

1)New Democracy is NOT conservative but Neo-Liberal
2)Kyriakos Mitsotakis is one of the worst Prime Ministers this country has ever seen.

New Democracy' outcome is not that brilliant if you take into consideration that they toke 2.4 million votes in a country of a papulation of 10 million citizens. In pure numbers the current leading party is backed only by the 24% of the people. I the elections of June 25th (3 days ago ) it went down to 2.1 million votes. The current Government is formed by 8 party parliament.

Next time that you will talk about any politician who isnt british, make sure you LEARN THEIR NAME. It is not the pronounciation, it is literally another name that you have been calling him.

Mitsotakis is not conservative do not do research on wikipedia he had the first open gay minister and push for Lgbtq friendly measures . Also a lot of comments that are from greek are huge bullshit because they transfer greek syriza like toxicity in comments. One of them is that mitsotakis was elected because people di not vote . While the percentage of participation is the same last decade. Thats the source of greek problem a lot fake news and left wing toxicity

@TLDR Have you guys heard how the former (and soon to be re-elected) Greek PM is practically coercing his people into granting him a grand majority in the next Parliament, by stating time and again that if the result is not astoundingly favourable for his party, he will drag the country into yet another call to the ballot box for the third time in a row:
@BornRanger

Greece is a cesspit politically and government wise. It's a real shame that such a beautiful country which is actually pretty advanced in certain aspects, has to pay for that with extremely poor, corrupt leadership and often heinous quality of life.
@Seedmember
February 21, 2024 at 10:21 pm
It's sad that people elected a party that messed up the country so much. It's even sadder that the biggest opponents of that party are even more incompetent.

Syriza, far right parties = Russian backed ultra populists
Mitsotakis ND = pro WEST pro European prime minister and very successful so far, no conservative at all

From the fact that they get "the vote of confidence from the public" while having done the things you mentioned at 4:15, alongside the things you explained they did at 6:30, alongside the fact that Greece droped from place 60 in "freedom of press" to place 106 within these last 4 years just goes to show how much propaganda is controlling the public opinion in Greece right now.
@wf.i.7260

The first political party did not collect more than 50% of the votes (got around 40% of total votes), which any party is required to have to form a government. Saved you 10 mins. Thank me later.
@Themistoklis16
February 21, 2024 at 10:21 pm
In Greece, their votes are counted by an American company, whatever else we say is unnecessary, no Greek wants any of those who are candidates for prime minister, all the people around me say the same thing, they make fun of us, they tell us lies, in the end not even 30% of the population went to the polls, it doesn't matter much, the Greeks don't get to vote, the result is predetermined by the US.

I am not so sure regarding Mitsotakis' popularity. In my few 25 years, i have not experienced hate for an individual as persistent, as the one for Mitsotakis. You would scarce find a wall or a bathroom of a bar without the words "Mitsotaki Gamiesai (Mitsotaki go f*** yourself)" graffitied upon it. Which i am pretty sure didn't happen for any previous prime minister, regardless of his party (At least to such a ludicrous extent).
And that, in addition to the massive recruitment of police officers (of dubious origin) into the crowd control divisions of our police and their relatively free exercise of physical violence against the citizenry. I am really struggling to comprehend this government's popularity.
And there are numerous other issues to state. For example the effective undermining of the arts in our country. As Mitsotaki's government has deemed the arts not worthy of pursuit. By altering the status of theatrical universities to secondary education. (So much for our great heritage eh?)
And there are plenty more. This man is a danger to this country's very soul.

The obly good thing mitsotakis did these 4 years was making easier and more accesible services through the internet (something that was unheard of beforehand). Everything else there was outrage, police inside universities for "protection", privatisation of education, water and electricity, funneling money to the biggest corporations through targeted "passes" in order to boost the economy

Greek people are sick of economic problems and were struggling to live . With New Democracy (Kyriakos Mitsotakis) the country came out from the worlds biggest crises not only as it was before but Greece is about to enter pre-crisis economic growth. New Democracy handled every situation very carefully and no one can blame Kyriakos for what other governments of Greece didst do (public transports safety, in the end the previous government with Tsipras soled the train company)! He had received a country fallen to its knees and made it stand out .

As a Greek i can say that Greeks don't know what they want, no matter what party will come to power Greeks will be dissatisfied anyways.
I voted for mitsotakis, he is the best prime minister in decades besides the fact that i didn't believe in him 4 years ago!

Here in greece they have analysed about how erdogan is winning in Turkey.
He is contolling all the media, extorting political opponents and many more.
This is the same that New Democracy is doing here. 100s of scandals that many have not seen the light of day.
Monitoring Political opponents illegal
Giving goverment money to their people, and themselves in the range of billions
Pedofile scandals
The worst train crush in 100 years in europe
to name a few of the 100 and more of them and that is the reason why we are 107th in the freedom of speech world list.
ps1. he gave 9 million to the media "for the losses of the Ukraine war". but many owners of the media are shipowners that transport Russian Oil, you can blame them for supporting Putin.
ps2. Greek People are stupid and shortminded thinking about themselves.
