Video footage shows massive explosion in Tianjin, China
Video footage shows the moment a fireball ripped through the night sky in China.
The massive explosion erupted in an industrial area in the northeastern city of Tianjin.
State TV said the blast erupted in a shipment of explosives around 11.30pm local time. The State news agency reported that the fire was under control, but two firefighters were reported missing.
The blast wave could be felt several kilometres away and injured at least 50 people according to local media.

It wasn't a shipment of explosives. It was a abandoned ammodium nitrate governemt stored their next to fireworks. A very dangerious thing to do. Ammodium nitrate is very safe it's fertilizer. But when mixed with fuel it becomes explosive

现在初步判断是乙醇储存罐爆燃，第二次是因为存储了大量碱金属和电石。爆炸范围的确很大，但不存在方圆几公里全灭之类的，更不存在毒气扩撒毒害京津冀地区，反正我在市区好好的，天照蓝。。。大家想弄清楚问题的心情都能理解，但看到网上一些耸人听闻的消息不要理会，毕竟事情已经发生了，就不要再造成更多不好的影响了

The movie footage appears to show the shock wave (sound) from the blast hitting the camera operator (mobile phone user) and his appartment about 2.2 seconds (I make it) after the beginning of the new, bigger explosion.
Sound travels (from memory) about 750 metres/per second. That would make this chap filming this in a spot that is a good one mile from the blast. (About 1,600 metres). He is very close indeed!
