As unpopular as the 5% threshold is that German parties usually need to enter parliament, I now see clear as day that it is absolutely necessary.

As someone living in the Netherlands, I don't feel like we're living in a democracy at all. We vote and it means jackshit, seeing as these incapable ministers are still reigning even after so many scandals, just because they refuse to make a coalition. They were given the chance to re-do elections, but refused. Why? Because the party's with most votes were scared of losing votes. So what do they do? Just keep being the same coalition, only now they're demissionairy. Basically we voted and not a single thing changed

Honestly I’m surprised intelligent people are still coming to this channel for news summaries. The bias levels of this channel are insane. I keep coming back hoping to see a nuanced or non-Anglo skewed take but the level of anti-EU propaganda this channel spreads only increases. I get it, to garner clicks among English language speaking audiences they have to turn the drama levels up, so the EU ON BRINK OF COLLAPSE, GERMANY ABOUT TO IMPLODE, AUSTRIA NEAR DEATH, SPAIN CLOSE TO APOCALYPSE etc etc etc etc not followed by actually nuanced and well researched reporting of the sensationalised stories just gets worse. Like who is funding this channel? What are the affiliations of the people running it? Most of the time the reporting on this channel is not much better than the goggle-eyed ranting and half baked analysis of a sloppy Daily Mail Online article. Cutsie Countries with Shoes graphics and a young presenter =/= unbiased and well researched reporting of the news. If you believed this channel everyone living in any part of Europe that isn’t the U.K. is basically living in shanty towns in anarchic chaos surrounded by total economic, political and social collapse.

When the channel turns its attention back to the U.K. all of a sudden any major political or economic crises get the nuance and cautious optimism treatment. You can tell there are probably almost no non-U.K. people involved in producing this content and hardly any input from anyone who isn’t fundamentally influenced by the extreme anti-European rhetoric that has permeated all aspects of British culture.

    February 23, 2024 at 11:18 am

The only liable option that I see is for PM Rutte to ditch D66 and form a Centre-Right based conservative government, alongside Christian Democratic and right-wing parties, to prevent a far-left takeover of the Dutch government. Give the right wingers influence over immigration and fiscal policy, and the Conservative-liberal and Christian Democrats can have influence over relations with Europe, social policy, and the environment.

but that's how we usually do it here in switzerland lol XD
we don't even have coaltions, just parties discussing endlessly until some concensus is achieved, after wich the new legislation is passed infront of the rest of society

Why you decided to fill almost half the screen with your narration is beyond me. The eye of the listener is supposed to go to the graphs. Showing yourself is fine, but as it stands, it's distracting and uncomfortable to have to tilt to the right side of the screen. I hope you change this.

  20. @rogerwilco2

    February 23, 2024 at 11:18 am

I would argue that we have a much better functioning democracy than in the USA or UK.
Our Parliament is fully sovereign and able to pass laws even if our government is having a bit of an identity crisis.
Our parliament is representing the wishes of the voters. We just have a few politicians who haven't accepted that yet, mostly because Rutte has been in power too long and has trouble accepting that his time to leave has come. A different VVD leader and I think most things blocking the formation would stop being an issue.

  21. @rogerwilco2

    February 23, 2024 at 11:18 am

Rutte should not have gone for another term.
Most politicians should leave after a decade.
