Lifelong lfc fan here. I'll stop watching footy if this happens, or only watch lower league footy.

I'm open minded to this new format. I hope there's a system that allows league champion of the top league to be promoted directly to the star league. I don't care that the move is profit driven. Consumers are usually better off when someone tries to break a monopoly.

I don't see an issue. The EPL has ruined football and now is the creator of its own downfall. Reap what you sow. This will benefit Scotland, France, Portugal, and rest of Europe bar the PL. Old Firm can leave

I totally disagree that the only problem 2 years ago with what happened was PR. The fans of the clubs didn't want it then and still don't want it now. Having 4 divisions of a European Super League entity, 80 clubs, which would still be a closed shop just with more clubs in it, just wouldn't work. Would say Aston Villa want to replace playing against Wolves, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Fulham, and Brighton, with games against FC Zurich, RB Salzburg, Lille, Sevilla, and Atalanta? Forgetting about the extra expense of travel between these places, and the fact that it would be like playing every week in European competition, which is draining on the players, I just don't see this as being attractive to the clubs themselves, let alone the fans.

I keep seeing comments about people not from England saying they don't go to games anyway so it doesn't matter to them, that's fine, they support the league, they support clubs that have players maybe from their countries, but in the end the majority of the the clubs receive is from TV money the majority of which is from Sky Sports. Sure the Premier League have been good at selling the product around the world and revenue from that has been increasing, but it will pales in significance to what is paid domestically. I also don't see the Premier League and the majority of their clubs giving up this advantageous position without a fight. I don't have Sky, it's too expensive, I watch the odd game on TNT Sports (formerly BT Sports) and maybe Amazon Prime (if I have that when they happen to have games), but I just don't see how this is going to get funded and even if it ever came to be I would still support my local team, one not in this 60-80 club monstrosity, and I think everyone, whatever they are in the world should support their local club and not just one in a far away land just because it has superstars playing in it.

  30. @unstoppableExodia

It seems like Sky have really short memories given that the premier league itself was a breakaway competition that abandoned the football league to give clubs more control and significantly more money from broadcast revenue. However since 2021 additional restrictions have been put in place that make it extremely difficult for premier league giants to join the super league. I can tell that they think that without the best teams from the premier league a super league can’t get off the ground. Well I have news for them the English league is only one of the major leagues in Europe and even though the organisers of the league would rather have England’s best in their league if those teams are hamstrung by new rules they had to agree to then the super league will go ahead without them. Should that happen in 2025 as planned and should the super league be a hit it would leave premier league teams out in the cold for once as the champions league would be a farce if everyone else has abandoned it. A lot can happen and there may yet be obstacles that stand in the way of the formation of the super league but as a massive fan of FC Barca I support the super league because of the massive financial windfall it would mean for them, plus being able to watch matches for free would be mint – something none of the domest leagues or uefa run competitions currently offer.

UEFA must be "open and transparent," while the clubs are "plotting and scheming" in the shadows. That sounds fair.

The monetisation, greed and rule changes in football over the last decade alone has ruined my interest in it. I shouldn't have to pay £936+ a year (TV license, BT + Sky) just to watch less than half the games my team play in. Football is suffering a prolong and steady death, all because of greed
