    They are trying to gain loyalty of old lady who saw the horror of war with her own eyes. Don’t they think that the ceremony is tiresome for her and they SPOIL her birthday by their so called “gesture” and prrsistent presence. Smiles are not sincere and she is probably scared of military uniform since the times of wwii.

    You don't get off that easily. She could've sold that cake instead, put the proceeds in a total market mutual fund, and collected compound interest for 77 years.
