Euronews Debates: Why tackling global health is everyone’s business

Published

on

The health and wellbeing of global populations are in focus like never before.
While countries battle to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, they also face a wider crisis: trying to turn the tide on the rise of conditions like obesity and diabetes, which can lead to other illnesses and disease.
The impact of poor health on individuals is obvious, but there’s also a huge economic and social price to pay for sick nations.
The European Union is looking for a prescription. Efforts are underway right now, for instance, to come up with a cancer-busting plan for the bloc. But how will it be realised?
Reversing the world’s health fortunes relies on both governments and industry. Are they waking up to the mammoth task in front of them? Who’s leading the way? How can they work together and get consumers on board? Where’s the balance between nudging and nannying? And how realistic are their ambitions?
Our Euronews live virtual debate will put these questions and more to some of the key thinkers, influencers and decision-makers in Europe.

Christian Schwab, President of the Executive Committee, Swiss Food & Nutrition Valley

for the most part this was actually pretty good, go figure..

studies over and again show the top three diets are always whole food plant based, its that simple. stay hydrated, get sleep.

38:00 why? and lol.. oh "i use to work in the pharmaceutical industry" then why does cuban healthcare work so well?? if its all about making as much money as possible, you know, for healing people..

40:30 lol…. 'you must mistrust science, but russian science is not our religion, excuse me, science…' what science? testing is apart of science. scientific rigor is being sidestepped in the name of profit, often, in recent decade.

on the vaccine issue again, the problem is that vaccine effectiveness is widely variable, however with respect to sars-cov-2, the general population has been at or nearly at herd immunity for some months now. the vaccine came at this turning point. this is also historically cyclical(with respects to previous outbreak, vaccine timing)

Queen Elizabeth’s coffin travels from Buckingham Palace to Westminster

Published

on

The coffin with late Queen Elizabeth II’s body travels from Buckingham Palace to Westminster through central London on a gun carriage, with the king and other royals walking behind.

It will be placed in Parliament’s medieval Westminster Hall, where the Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct a short service. The queen will then lie-in-state for four days, until the morning of her funeral. Members of the public will be able to pay their respects and troops will keep a round-the-clock vigil.
