“Botched” and “Chaotic” the WHO’s Scathing Secret Report on Italy’s COVID Response – TLDR News
TLDR Store: https://tldrnews.co.uk/store
Italy was one of the first countries in the world to face a serious outbreak of COVID, with it being the ‘European hotspot’ for a while. However, not everyone thinks they handled this well – with the WHO releasing a scathing report about the Italian response. In this video, we discuss what the report says and why it was mysteriously revoked just one day later.

As an Italian who lived through the pandemic I agree with some parts of the report.. but it is true that it wasn't the full story yes. I also believe that as the first Nation to fight the virus Italy did what it could.. none knew how bad it really could get and I think they removed the report because it would just muddy the discussion around pro and against quarantine in a period where many countries where trying their best not to close down while they should have. It basically would have done more harm than good and sometimes you need to think twice of the effect that the voice from an authority like the who can have, even if it tells the truth. A report criticising Italy response would be very useful to prepare for the next pandemic but at that time would only hinder the authority of the current response

I think is quite stupid blaming Italy for its response, when they did better than half of to other countries (UK included) even if there wasn't any information about the virus…
@StarryNightGazing
February 25, 2024 at 2:15 am
Never forget that even in March WHO was only recommending to test people showing symptoms and told everyone you shouldn't wear a mask if not obviously sick. What a bunch of incompetent morons.
@michelemorselli7047
February 25, 2024 at 2:15 am
So, for starter, it was really underestimated: many politicians, especially on the far right, downplayed the event, and Italy was slower than it could have been; that said, we really were Europe's "patient 0", so it's, if not forgivable, more understandable. After that, it was like plugging leaks, a very Italian way to do stuff. But, as a normal citizen and observer, although many, many negative observations can be made (structural problems, underfunded welfare, bad regional decisions, chaos in the media), the response has been decent, the government has tried its best and has resisted the pushback from the more unpopular but necessary measures. Conte (and that "e" sounds like "sand", not "beer", dammit!) has used his charisma and his clean history as a good tool to convince the Italian population of the importance of following the rules, and he won't be badly remembered. What I'm saying is, it could have been way, way worse.
@FlagAnthem

Italy was the first country to fight back. This while everybody else was chanting "the virus won't change our lives"

Anyone who knows Italy also knows that the burocracy there does not function at all. Rules and regulations can be made as often as you like but stumble on the public organisation needed to implement them. Priority is traditionally given to what there is for lunch and dinner.

There's another big chunk: Italy's investigators, who are checking if Italian government executed correctly it's response to the pandemic, have asked four times, now, the relators of the WHO to testimony. Relators want to, but WHO won't let them, and claims diplomatic immunity

I maintain that no government has handled covid correctly. Everyone knew a pandemic was possible but nobody prepared. Humans do not judge risk well. Politicians did not prioritize pandemic planning.
If people are honest, I don't think anyone would have done better with the same circumstances.

Undoubtedly italy made many mistakes, as many other countries, would like to see reports about usa and UK, and china itself.
This is a political report, probably to shift the blame to Italy from other sources, and removed afterwards to fit other political issues.

To all the italians: thank you. Italy was the first country whose doctors spoke openly about the disease and showed us all what to expect.
