Meet the cartographer making huge and beautiful drawings on snow
Cartographer-turned-artist Simon Beck is known for his incredible snow drawings that span between 100 and 150 meters in diameter. He creates them armed only with a magnetic compass and his snowshoes. His drawings in the middle of nature are huge, beautiful, and almost flawless.

The University of Oxford-educated engineer and former cartographer Simon Beck 15 years ago settled in Les Arcs, a ski resort in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps. “I'm very lucky that I found something I liked doing and actually get a certain amount of money for it … enough to live anyway,” says Beck.
