Why do so few people vote in European Elections?

    It was once said that in the USSR they shoot dissidence. In the West they just ignore them. The same is true of the EU, voting is irrelevant because it will make no difference to the direction in which the EU is heading. It is the EU commissioners and Eurocrats who set the direction. The parliament just has limited control of the speed. In other words the Eurocrats control the steering wheel, while the parliament controls the hand brake. I suspect the council of ministers have collective control of the accelerator, but only because they pay for the fuel.
