    UPDATE:
Since we wrote and animated this video, Ukraine has staged another effort in the south, around Zaporizhia. The offensive began on Wednesday evening, and the New York Times described it as 'the main thrust of [Ukraine's] counteroffensive'. So far, it doesn't look like the frontlines have changed all that much, but Ukraine has made some advances around the town of Staromajorske, a small town on the border of the Donetsk and Zaporizhia oblasts, and we'll have to wait to see what happens.

We should also say that it doesn't look like Ukraine has fully recaptured Klischiivka yet. Earlier this week, Russian telegram channels were saying that Russia was retreating from the town, but more reports out in the past 24 hours or so suggest that Russian troops are still in the south and eastern parts of the suburb.

I found it a bit odd that Hamas as attacked Israel at the height of the Russians beating by the Ukraines. Could it be a Putin's strategy In having a secret agreement with Hamas to take away the focus off his war with Ukraine?😮😮😮

While there are more reports coming in that the AFU liberated Klishchiivka are just short of it i do not think they will directly attack Bakhmut from there.
Urban warfare is simply too costly. An encirclement seems way more likely.

7:01 Give them fucking F-16s, that's all the fucking need!

No western military in their right mind would start an major counteroffensive without having fucking air support, but Ukraine is forced to.

If we would supply Ukraine which set are support the Russian artillery could shell them with impunity anymore. HiMARS is great, the problem is that their number is way too limited and moving them around takes way to much time, F-16s however do not have that problem because their range is great and their speed is greater. So what they can do is having an attack, find out where the hostile artillery is firing from (e.g. with counter battery radars), then send F-16s to bomb said artillery positions to get them off the Ukrainians' back.

There have already been western tanks destroyed already in Ukraine but the thing is not a single one has been destroyed either by hostile tank fire nor hostile infantry. Every single one has been destroyed by hostile artillery fire so taking out that artillery is exactly what's needed for Ukraine to make actual tangible great progress on the battlefield.

F-16 and air force in general together with more long range cruise missiles as well as ATACMS is the answer.

Bahkmut is very stretigic for russia. As Bahkmut is part of the Donbas oblast. And Russia has annexed the Donbas. So yeah, they need to hold on to any land they've annexed. In a decade, when this war of attrition is finally over, don't be surprised if East Ukraine, the Donbas and the Luhansk oblasts are de facto russia.

Putin is in serious, serious trouble.
He has no good choices other than to end his stupid war
and pull all Russian troops out of Ukraine
and it seems that he is too stupid to do that.

Even if Putin wanted peace and even if Ukraine was willing to sign
a peace agreement that Russia was willing to sign
as soon as the war is over Ukraine is likely to
be on the fast track to joining NATO and
Putin will soon see NATO bases within a short distance of
    Crimea and Donbas.

But if Putin doesn't sign a peace treaty then by next spring at latest
his government will run out of foreign reserves
and be bankrupt and will no longer be able to carry on the war.

Guess he could try to conscript another 1.5 million men
into the Russian military but that would anger a lot of Russians
and likely another couple of million young talented Russians
will flee the country which will make Russia's demographic collapse
    even worse.

Men who have left the country won't be having babies in Russia
and men stuck in trenches aren't having babies
and those that die will never have babies.

And then there is the fact that Russia probably is incapable of
providing another million plus Russian soldiers with
the clothes, food, etc., etc they would require
and that Russian forces have shown no ability
to make a significant advance anyway
and as well Russia would be heading towards bankruptcy even faster
with that many men taken out of productive jobs
and put in the army where they are a drain on the economy.

Really Putin's best strategy would be to fly to China for talks with Xi
and then when he's in China to announce that he's retiring
and will be staying in China for his retirement.
Of course before doing so he should make sure that
he has a nice big bank account in a Chinese bank.

    February 28, 2024 at 3:18 pm

Give them enough planes and more long range missiles now, if they have been able to destroy the air defense at a worrying rate with just HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles and making the imperialists spread their air defense, imagine if they added significant amount of fire jets to the mix, even with the expected losses the numbers of destroyed equipment would increase radically. Ukrainian air defense if being upgraded at least, as painfully slow as the process is

Peace? Peace isn't an option as long as the U.S is involved, there will be no profits for American military companies if the war stops, and America will do anything to protect its corporations

News that Russia has been pushed back in Kharkiv, massing troops there might have been a mistake.

Potentially depleting reserves or thinning lines elsewhere, and news of the Ukrainian breakthrough towards Staromaiorske might confirm this

Putin reminds me on a Rodeo rider who mounted terrifying beast and now don't know how to jump out. he don't care about the beast (Russia) and the audience (rest of the world ) he just care about his pitiful self to avoid death under huffs or horns.
