Chechen leader backs forced marriage of police chief to teenage girl

Ramzan Kadyrov the leader of Chechnya has given his blessing to a police chief who took a 17 year-old-girl as his second wife in a forced marriage.

The police commander Nazhud Guchigov is 46-years-old and already has one wife.

According to the investigative journalist Elena Milashina, of independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, the family of the bride named as Kheda Goylabiyeva was threatened with “unpleasant consequences” if they did not hand her over to him.
