Survivors of Sunday’s train derailment in New York which killed at least four people and injured 63 claim it was going much to fast.

Accident investigators are still searching for clues as to why the commuter train flew off the tracks in the Bronx district.

One thing they are clear about, had it happened on a crowded Monday morning, the death toll would have been far higher.

Survivor Sherill Patton described what happened:

“It seemed like it was going pretty fast. It felt like the car shifted to the left a little bit and then slammed down the right hand side. As we were going over, I looked at my two, I screamed at my two friends, you know, that ‘we’re going over’. I couldn’t believe it I was in shock.”

Fire officials at the scene have said three of the four people who died were found outside the train and appeared to have been hurled from it when it left the tracks.
