France Takes Over EU Presidency: French Plans for Migrants, Borders & Finance – TLDR News

Published

on

In January France is set to take over the rotating “Presidency of the Council of the European Union”. With this new position comes new responsibilities; responsibilities that are even more interesting considering France is heading to the polls during the French reign at the EU. So in this video we’re going to explain the French plans for Europe (specifically on migrants, borders and the economy) as well as what this could mean for the continent and Macron’s chances at re-election.

As someone living in the states I want Europe to have if not a large army, an incredibly large reserve to quickly call on sort of like Switzerland. Not only because a not oversized but reasonable European army could lessen the burden on individual EU members but it helps deter aggressive nations that might used armed conflict to profit. It also creates a pool of innovations all sorts of sectors might benefit from. Not saying arms are the best way to make jobs but its better for Europe to have some means to protect itself. It doesn't need to extensively militarize or build nukes and close the missile gap like some lame realist but if Poland and the Baltic nations alone could outnumber an aging shrinking population like Russia's, we could have saved everyone a lot of precious lives. If Putin had to think twice about an alliance of the willing, just some nations and not all of Europe and the United States, the regional sovereignty of Eastern Europe could have kept Russia from pushing past Crimea. I know thats a big if but its something to think about.

I really am not a fan of Schengen and I think that border controls should be established to prevent illegal migration, gangs, human and drug traffickers and terrorists do their business. If you have a passport and you are legal you can still travel freely.

Europe will never be USofEU for the reason the video mentioned in the end, should Makron appeal to French people or to European one. Europe has centuries of history with conflicts, wars and rivalries, French will be first French and second European ( the same applies for all EU countries ). But there is a need for European unity as the smaller countries are threaten from outer EU countries ( i.e. Greece from Turkey ) and for stronger countries ( i.e. France or Germany ) to have a stronger position against US or China.

The EU independent military alliance was suggested in 2010, nowadays, nothing has been done, no country like Italy or Germany is willing to pay to have a smaller country use their equipment for free, people are quite optimistic about this plan, but believe me, it won’t work no matter what.

The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can’t wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!
