About the situation of the French left it has to be known for a start that the left never won any presidential election when it was united, but each time a left candidate won there was a bunch of others. Union, or division, doesn't make the result of the left in the end.

Mélenchon is a strong challenger. In 2012 and 2017, some weeks before each election, he was rated at twice less than his final results, and each time he motivated a huge last minute rise, from 11% up to 19.5% in 2017. And some details that are different than in 2017 can let think he may once again beat his past result. A significant rise have already been seen since this video, as he is now at 14% (with not much diminution of others left candidates). Reducing him to a supposition of complotism is missing how strong his program is and how solid he can be during debates.

It is pretty likely that he will be at least in third position, maybe second.
And don't forget, French election very often got some last minute plot twist.

Zemmour was ahead of other extreme right candidates (Zemmour, Le Pen, Dupont Aignan, and Pecresse, because yes, she's very close to far right ideas) until we learned he was targeted by an investigation for several cases of sexual harassment, making him lose a big part of support, and giving Le Pen a rise. Meaning by the way at least 6% of her electoral support is quite volatile and could flip again if some dirt was disrupting (and she can have some skeletons in her closet).

Macron is under fire of quite a serious scandal right now (having payed above 1 billion € an American think tank to get some powerpoints about how to build his politics, McKinley that never paid its taxes and is based in Delaware, can lead to a bunch of dirt in which Macron could be linked), and at least two other scandals may come back (his fishy declaration of assets, and how he has let a cult enter in his government).

When it comes to Pecresse, she is a very unlikely contender for second round. She is so bad at discourses and debates that each time she appears she ridicules herself and loses some more points. She's now struggling to come back from a fall at 11%, and now the election accelerates she has to make more and more live speeches, which means more and more opportunities to appear as one of the worst republican candidate ever.

Looking at poles and some clues from previous election, yes, Macron may win the first round, Le Pen is quite possibly coming second, and if it happens Macron may win again. But this election is a bomb that could blow up to many candidate's faces. Possibilities like Macron vs Mélenchon, or even Mélenchon vs Le Pen, are really not impossible. Mélenchon would likely win against Le Pen, as she had never been able once in her life to stand in front of him in a debate without ending ridiculed, and he also is at least very able to destroy Macron during the last debate. Macron vs Le Pen is the safest bet, but odds are not that clear.

French politicians: "speak Japanese and Russian". Spanish politicians: "mumble something vaguely resembling Spanish" (I'm Spanish, in spite of my name).

I have numerous French friends and they all say the same thing: they aren't excited about Macron, but he's the best of a bad bunch.
They are also saying they are going to try harder this time than in 2017 to deprive him of a majority in parliament (although this doesn't have quite as much importance as it does in the UK).
Most likely scenario they all think: Macron will face Le Pen in the second round and win with a substantially reduced majority (-10% or more) with around one third of voters abstaining (which is unheard of in France).

Like him or not, Macron is kind of special in the French politics or even in France. Not that I support him the most, but he seems to the one comparatively capable of uniting the French people under his rule.
