This week, Ukrainian Security Services foiled yet another attempt on Zelenskyy’s life, arresting a woman on suspicion of colluding with Russia. This does raise an uncomfortable question: what would happen if Ukraine’s President was actually assassinated?

In the US, we have a line of succession for the death of a President, as we have plenty of experience with Presidents dying in office since 1844. Five of our Presidents have been assassinated by firearms.

Thanks a lot for the good content you provide.
One thing that has scratched my ear though, as the person from Ukraine, was the phrase “when Ukrainians invaded 2 russian villages”. In my opinion, this phrase contradicts the rules of unbiased opinion of this channel and leaning more towards sticking to the point of view of russian propaganda.
Leaning more towards Ukrainian point of view, on the contrary, would be to say that “independent group of good-willed anti-putin russians have liberated russian villages”.
The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but using such strong wording, in my opinion, has the potential of hurting Ukraine.
Once again, thank you for the content and for a high-quality work you do

Russia should be smarter than targeting Zelensky, it was a good idea in the first days of the war, now, they would make a martyr of him
@Eric_Nomad_Hixtone
March 3, 2024 at 10:26 am
I watched rn both Ukrainian and Russian news to make conclusion about this situation with possible assassination of Zelenskiy. I think they don't really want to kill the president because they actually realize it's not gonna be effective, even their propaganda guys were talking about killing him when he was in the certain war spots visiting soldiers and complaining he wasn't a target but again, he was not interesting for them. Russians even made a film where they parody him and where he, with a pistol stick to his head, signed up the whole Ukraine to them, admitting defeat. Killing him would cause some troubles for them while some benefits. First off they want him to have a humiliation because many people starting from war started to take things humorously about Russian which they don't like. Imagine how much it hits their ego that "second strongest armg in the world" still haven't conquered, as their agenda claims "a small rebellious country no one needs", right? Secondly he'd be martyred because he puts his face everywhere. Thus his death may anger both allies and Ukraine itself. While, yes, there would be some panic ofc, because such a big figure killed, but c'mon, he'd just be replaced like any other president. They may expect new one to be less effective or something or even pro-russian but there's no such thing in the country as of now. Ofc if he was to be killed they'd make news about their old myth that Zelenskiy wasn't doing well with army this Belorussian president was talking about in the beggining of the war, which may cause some chaos but like, small shock for a day or two wouldn't win them the entire thing. It'd be a PR for Ukraine actually, because they'll claim again that Russia is a terrorist-state and partners of Russia probably would facepalm themselves about it tbh because that kinda crosses the line. So there's more problems rather than benefits for Russia here.
In short – they'd like him to go down to have more "talkative" or less effective leader but they won't do this bc it's gonna cost them set of troubles like making him a martyr, Ukrainians angry, they political partners thinking they're crazy, they wouldn't make much of a difference and have a PR/propaganda disaster on their hands. So, the president of Ukraine will probably live to see whatever way war is going to end personally.

It obviously wouldn’t help.
But Zelenskyy has done such a good job handling this war that he doesn’t need to live for his country to win.
He showed them that they can stand up to Russia, showed them that he was brave.
If Putin were assassinated on the other hand. Russias willingness to fight would go from frail to completely broken.
