You are forgetting the city of London as articulation between tax havens and the normal world.
You keep forgetting the isles in the sleeve channel.
These are all constructions for oligarchs, Prigoshins, and the likes.
Brits do always have a blind eye there when naming places to avoid taxes, to park illegal money, in sum: to commit fraud.

If Switzerland can somehow offer top-of-the-line quality of life metrics while keeping the cost of government low on individuals and firms, that’s good on Switzerland.
Let’s all strive to be as efficient as Switzerland!
@TheSandkastenverbot
March 3, 2024 at 6:21 am
Thank you for clarifying this! But it's still safe to say that a lot of companies are in Switzerland solely for tax reasons and that Switzerland can only afford this low rate because neighboring countries have higher tax rates. In other words: Switzerland is at an unfair advantage. Would be interesting to know how CH would do economically with a fair tax rate.

"Cracking down on tax avoidance." just sounds horrible.
Every taxed human being on Earth, consciously or unconsciously, engages in tax avoidance. Even if it's just to choose not to buy something because the price+tax is slightly too much.
WHY would you "crack down" on people choosing not to buy something?

The US destroyed the banking system in Switzerland and other tax havens (with the BS excuse of money laundering and terrorism), so they could become the new biggest tax haven for foreign money. As they say onshore is the new offshore. Reality is if the US was smart it would adopt a flat tax rate like Russia, which would bring all the US money hidden abroad back to the US. Problem is the US debt is so high that even 37% federal isn't cutting it, so a flat tax of 10-15% is probably out of the question and flat rate will never happen. If anything I wouldn't be surprised to see 45% like France in coming years.

Mexico Investigation over Pegasus and Sourgum, Onavo, etc. spyware and malware has changed everything that we know about Money Laundering and Tax Evasion : " Government spent US $ 300 million on spyware including kickbacks ", Mexiconewsdaily com,7.22.21, and in APNews , 7.21.21 :" Mexico : $ 300 million in spyware spending includes kickbacks " The People most interested in using Spyware is Drug Cartels and their Money Laundering gangsters .
In the case of Switzerland, Pr.Biden is right and the Swiss Government cannot blame anyone but themselves. Take the case of the Middle East indicted bank giving 5.300 of their Customers in Switzerland a special tax free account and debit card that technically does not exist.

Can tldr please educate themselves on how finance really works. Please read The Deficit Myth by Stephanie Kelton. It clearly explains that countries that can issue their own currency can print all the money they like. They have no need of taxes and government led fiscal policy doesn't work the same way a household financial situation. In other words ordinary people cannot spend more than they earn or they go bankrupt. Governments that have sovereignty over their own currency can just keep issuing more money.

Given Switzerland's history of getting rich while watching all of its neighbors burn, it can be challenging to take what they say altogether very seriously. There's a lack of moral accountability that runs deep in the waters of the Swiss Alps.
