   The extended formation highlights a concern about the Dutch democracy. Basically, this comes down to: if you have the majority in the house, you can keep ruling the country even when the government has stepped down or been sent away.
   
   Usually, the caretaker government is only allowed to take care, but Rutte took it a step further, partly with Covid as a reason/excuse. In essence, Rutte kept governing as if nothing had happened. Because the government parties still contained the majority in the house, the caretaker government could not be sent away, which is highlighted in that he survived a vote of non-confidence, if just barely. Remember that Rutte had stepped down at that point. So the house was voting to send away a prime minister who had stepped down.
   
   In fact, even if he has lost that vote, it is just a question of what would happen next. Would the whole caretaker government step down again? And what would that achieve? Because they keep on ruling as a caretaker government 2nd edition.
   
   As Rutte was well aware of this(I think he mentioned that it is easier to rule as caretaker PM) he was in no hurry to form a new government since he wanted that same government back anyway and it took some time for some of the coalition parties to accept their fate, notably the CDA as it had lost in the elections and the CU because they felt they were morally obliged not to.

   For the most part good video. I am glad the coalition continued with Rutte at it's head. No crazy nonsense or extremes.
   No coalition is perfect or without its faults. But I will take their professionalism, education and stability above many things.
   I do not mind mistakes, just stability and progress as best we can. I can see Rutte go on for two more full terms, even if things get rough.

    The election lead to a progressive standing i guess that was the main objective, square around the scandals of the extreme right wing policy that failed him, and bounce back as a progressive hero formator of the latter.
    Fraud allegations in the ordinary is unexplainable and wrong, which should teach the formator a lesson of value.

    I predict that this coalition doesn't pass Parliament due to large number of defections is defections from the too largest party's other than that of the outgoing Prime Minister. I suspect D66 ends up with a coalition 6 months from now that replaces the largest party with labor the greens and the left party. I am aware that that is a 6 party coalition

    To outsiders. The problem is rutte(vvd) has no real alternatives on the right. All other parties that call them self rightwing are borderline extreemist. So if your an untroponeur that is right thinking there is no other option but VVD. While on the left there are 3 non extreem parties to pick from.

    I was highly dissapointed with the elections and this formation. The people that have been making bad decisions, are openly caught lying and have been actively sidelining any opposition (by actively censoring pretty much all documents that the law says they need to provide) still win. They'll just carry on doing the same thing, but probably run an even thighter and less democratic show this time round.

    So, government had passed reforms who allowed to leave people homeless and then resigned. Was elected back in power and did nothing about it? TLDR, if you make such a big point, maybe it would be important to do more thorough research if new government had changed a thing over which they all resigned?

    The only reason the Dutch couldn't reach a coalition earlier was because Kaag of D66 wanted to get the left on board, who'd lost an amount of seats. The sitting coalition could proceed from the start considering the fact it had retained its majority in parliament. After they had finally talked some sense in her, the negotiations started, which went quickly an sich.

    The comment on student grants at 06:35 right after explaining that the balance within the coalition shifted in favour of the progressive D66 and at the cost of the conservative CDA is somewhat misleading. D66 was one of the parties that actually helped get rid of the student grant some years ago. The CDA has consistently been in favour of the grant and in favour of bringing it back.

    Video idea: The recent events in Serbia, covering the mining company Rio Tinto coming to Serbia to mine lithium, which is met with incredible backlash from the people (partly due to how the Serbian government changed the constitution to make it easier for foreign companies to buy your land and force you out of it, if you were in the way)

    It's only covered locally, and so called EU greens are really silent because a lithium mine would mean less reliance on China for vehicle batteries (and a needed cash injection into Serbia). However, the environmental impact cannot be ignored, it would endanger the lives of 15000 inhabitants living around the planned mines, in an already highly polluting country

    The last time I checked, King Willem-Alexander was Head of State of the Netherlands, not Mark Rutte who, as Minister-president van Nederland is Head of Government.

    The corruption scandal in EU institutions that is not discussed in Spain. Deputies from Vox and other parties have asked the Commission about this issue that affects the EPP, the CJEU, the Commission and the ECA. In Spanish media, almost total silence.

    On 10 December, MEPs from the ECR group (including those from Vox), the Identity and Democracy group and non-affiliates asked the Commission this question: “A recent publication by the French media has reported on alleged conflicts of interest and influence peddling by judges of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), including its president, Judge Koen Lenaerts, and prominent EU officials associated with the European People's Party (EPP). The publication includes the following names in connection with the scandal: Johannes Hahn, Jean-Claude Juncker, Jyrki Katainen, Michel Barnier, Barbara Feldman, Koen Lenaerts, Judge Quinn, Helga Berger, Alexandra Sacha Prechal, Nils Wahl ”.

    The question adds: “The Commission, dominated by the EPP, has relied on the CJEU judgments when taking politically motivated decisions regarding rule of law-related investigations against Poland and Hungary. Furthermore, both the Commission and the CJEU have been increasingly critical in their assessments of corruption in countries such as Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia. Given the above, have any of the CJEU judges mentioned in the publication participated in any CJEU judgment related to rule of law investigations against Poland or Hungary? If so, in which specific resolutions have they participated and which have served as the basis for the Commission's decision to maintain the so-called rule of law mechanism against Poland and Hungary? "

    Almost total silence of the Spanish media in the face of this scandal

    Małgorzata Wołczyk points out that this matter has caused a scandal in France (the country where the newspaper that published the information is published) and also in Poland, a country that (as those MEPs point out) is being the victim of ideological persecution by the European Commission. In Spain, the matter has been ignored by practically all the media.

    I have only found one story in La Vanguardia published on December 1 and entitled: "The president of the EU Court of Auditors rejects the accusations of fraud." This information indicates that the German Klaus-Heiner Lehne, from the PPE and president of the European Court of Auditors, “despite earning between 22,000 and 24,000 euros per month and receiving rental assistance equivalent to 15% of his salary, shares floor with three co-workers, three members of his cabinet with salaries above 10,000 euros per month each ”.

    La Vanguardia also points out that "a third of the 27 members of the TCUE are almost never in the Grand Duchy, despite the fact that they receive accommodation bonuses for" fictitiously "establishing their residence in the country". It also recalls that this new scandal comes just two months after the conviction by the CJEU against Karel Pinxten, former Belgian Defense Minister and member of the European Court of Auditors for 12 years, for “fraudulently charging the institution with expenses equivalent to 570,000 euros related to personal vacations in Cuba and Switzerland, hunting trips and the purchase of vineyards in France ”.

    Does Europeanism imply thinking that European institutions are incorruptible?

    It is astonishing that a matter of this gravity has barely been echoed in the Spanish media, although it is not surprising if we take into account that the main European institutions are controlled by the coalition formed by the European People's Party and European Social Democrats, and related media. both parties should not be very interested in making known the scandals that plague those institutions.

    On the other hand, the idea seems to have spread that "Europeanism" implies considering that European institutions are above good and evil, are incorruptible and should not be criticized, under penalty of being accused of "Eurosceptic" or "Anti-European". Why shouldn't these institutions be judged with the same critical eye as national or regional institutions? After all, it is often the same parties that dominate each other. Why think that in Brussels they will be more virtuous than in Madrid or Paris?
