   UPDATE: Last night, Georgians in the capital Tbilisi staged a massive protest against the government's 'foreign agents' bill, which would require non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and independent media who receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad to declare themselves as foreign agents. The bill is unpopular with the Georgian public because it's widely perceived as a replica of a law passed by the Kremlin in 2012, which has been used to target and suppress "unfriendly" media outlets and NGOs. During the riots, some Georgians waved EU flags and chanted anti-Russia slogans. While this video doesn't touch on the recent protests directly (it was written a week or so ago), it should hopefully provide some context and help you understand why most Georgians – who are generally pretty pro-EU – are at odds with their pro-Russian government.

    As Georgian I can say that not All the georgians hate their pro Russian government. Bidzina ivanishvili is lying to his supporters that he's gonna go to European union and some of them really believe that and they think that third former president Mikhail Saakashvili is bad instead. Am sacrificing because maybe ivanishvili supporter will see this comment and start arguing with me. So don't get fooled if some Georgian said that ivanishvili is good and Saakashvili is bad.     In Bulgaria, we are stuck with mafiosos putting up terrible candidates that ensure endemic corruption remains unscathed – relatively. On the west coast of the Black Sea, we have our troubles but now Russian meddling in our politics includes the motorcycle riding bandits that are the more explicit and seen, whilst the real disruption to our institutions is under guise and implicit through heavy attack and forced mistrust via fake news from russian trollbots.

    Regarding the "foreign agents" bill:

    It's not true that it was just like American FARA.

    The proposed Georgian "foreign agents" (which, BTW, sounds more like "foreign spies" in Georgian) law applied to any organization that received at least 20% of its funding from abroad. It was very vague on its own. Our government is also authoritarian and friendly with Russia, so it would undoubtedly be used to suppress critical media, NGOs, pro-Western activists, independent journalists, and opposition.

    It's not like the US law (FARA) for several reasons:
    1. The US law is restricted to the organizations engaged in activities that do deliberate damage to the country or its interests. "Foreign agents" are defined as "individuals or entities engaged in domestic lobbying or advocacy for foreign governments, organizations, or persons ("foreign principals")". It's also quite old and was introduced to counter Nazi propaganda.
    2. Unlike the US, Georgia is a developing country; foreign funding is essential to create the public good, like affordable healthcare, vaccination programs, legal services, independent journalism, human rights groups, etc. Unlike Georgia, the US doesn't need foreign aid — if anything, it provides foreign aid to others — meaning the US has many more reasons to be concerned about foreign funding of its organizations because those organizations are less likely to be receiving the money in order to create public good. And even then, the law doesn't apply to every organization that receives foreign funding.
    3. The goal of the US law is to promote transparency, while the goal behind this proposed Georgian law was to suppress NGOs, media, and organizations alike. Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, even confirmed this. Not to mention that funding of NGOs, media, political parties, and other organizations is already transparent in Georgia. There's even a website you can use to find out who funds a specific organization you're interested in.

    P.S.: I understand there's a language barrier for many foreigners who don't speak Georgian, so they fall for the propaganda that it's a transparency law like FARA. If you found my response helpful, you're free and encouraged to copy it.

    Hi, I have been watching your videos for a while, and love them! However, I have the same light as you have in the shelf on the background, and it is not properly put down. Your light is at a slight angle, since you did not route the cable to the slot cut out (the slot that is cut out for routing the cable is visible on camera, right next to the silver play button).
