Russia homeless living in sewers to survive cold
Moscow is known for its harsh winters, and for more and more people there’s no respite from the freezing cold.
Homelessness is on the rise in the capital as the Russian economy suffers from the falling price of oil, its main export.
Some NGOs estimate there are now more than 100,000 people living rough in Moscow.
“Many people end up freezing to death in their sleep. I know many who have died. Me, I’m cold and hungry, as always,” says this 29-year-old woman.

Of course, American plutocrats are living in far greater palatial opulence and in far greater numbers than their Russian counterparts….and where in the US thousands of homeless defecate in the streets of San Fran and San Diego …On the other hand, there was no homelessness in the Soviet era, i.e. housing was guaranteed. What should be being critiqued here is…wait for it….CAPITALISM.

I'm sure that the Russian government already did something for homeless people, like special buildings, the problem is that many of them avoid those buildings, as they are ruled by gangs, similar to what's in prisons.

small compact homes that are self efficient homes. pay one time for the small home for the homeless and nothing else besides land and fixing the equipment. Habbit for humanity would build a small home that has wind turbines, solar panels, and hydro power to run the home and make the home all electric from stove to water heater and ac. Also have methane collection system water condsenors. rain water collection system. collect water from streams water and lakes. it will be a self efficient home with a one time cost and say the government millions on the homeless problem. I will also house 10000 homeless across russia.

While there are certainly homeless in Moscow, most of these are migrants from other parts. Most people especially poor people still have access to some form of housing. The figure of 100,000 is highly unlikely. Euronews needs to specify where it got that figure from.
