Poland’s actually kind of benefited from the war in Ukraine – instead of being sidelined by the west, they’ve proven that they’re an indispensable bulwark against Russia. We’d be fools not to accept their help.

As a Pole I am glad this happens, we do not share the same views as Hungary for quite some time already. Orban became irrelevant and now Slovakia started being same.
UK left and its place in EU politics is being taken by Poland.

The V4 is useless. I understand the idea behind, some kind of economical and political unity of most of central Europe is a reasonable idea, but there is no unity. Poles and Czechs are now quite separated from Slovakia and Hungary now more than ever and even before the group barely made any real impact.

As a Czech person, Poland leaving Visegrad behind would be an amazing first step to finally dissolving it. It was always a stupid way for our mediocre cohort of politicians to conspire and hold back all 4 of our countries. Visegrad being weaker makes PiS and Orban weaker, as well as our previous President Zeman, so we'd be removing so much dead weight that stood in the way of European reform.

In Czechia, we are ditching the V4, too. It has become impossible to maintain exceptional relations with the current Slovak government.

Yes before meeting in Wyszegrad Tusk was sceptical, but you conveniently ommitted that during closing speeches of it he admitted he was proven wrong, that the group will firmly stand together as representing smaller EU member states, and having joint voice against green deal , migration and treaty changes

Honestly as a Czech I don´t really wonder our northern neighbours, Orban is still the same and now even we had to limit our relations with Slovakia thanks to Fico. I hope that relations in Visegrad group will get better, but right now I just have to wish Poland luck, this seems to be logical step and it might greatly help them.
(also we almost got used to name Chechnya, so now you start to call us Chechya?🥲)

Weimar Triangle as security alliance, where all 3 members have different approach? For Polands security would be best to make Baltic alliance, with Scandinavians and Baltic states. Recent events show french and german incopetence in eastern politics. sometimes I wonder if those 2 countries are polish, or russian allies

There is a real risk that Slovak prime minister Fico (like Putin) actually believes what he says.
Fico: "War on Ukraine was started by EU, because EU has secret plan to eradicate Slavic people, by forcing them killing each other". Like what? This man is nuts.

I'm hungarian, and i understand. Poland was our best friend in the Union, and we betrayed them by supporting Russia.
It's also important for Poland to represent Eastern interests within the Union in a productive and positive way, instead of the temper tantrums and backstabbing that my country prefers.

As far as I remember the weimar triangle was empty formula. Ritual pain in the bottom for F and G and source of frustration for P. They met, G and F were saying whats going to happen and P was listening. I do not think the disproportions got any smaller.

Poland is a country that in regards to size, population, military and economic potential deserves to play an important role in Europe, and not sit at the children's table of Visegrád, which the past government has set up to protect themselves from EU investigation. Visegrád is dying anyways, Czechia is now also stopping negotiations with Hungary and Slovakia. It will only be those two pariah countries left, and depending on how the elections go, they will reorient themselves towards Austria, Slovenia and Romania. Poland is better of without them.

it is a paradigm shift. Russia invasion of Ukraine proved to Europe we need strength so a political party's for personal benefits like that group are falling before strong alliances that can help you in case of an invasion. There has so far never been a war in history of Europe that was contained to only 2 country's. We always spread it out so strength of your army and its defenses become paramount to anything else which is why economy is falling because arming ourselves becomes more important then wealth so you invest in military not economy
