My guess is that there was some sort of deadline for him to take bakmut, but he fell short.

keep saying human wave attack but no proof can be produced to back this claim. if the ammunition never arrives, why did Bakhmut face the strongest artillery barrage to date? clearly, Prigozhin is playing with Western people's hope that somehow Ukraine can win against russian and Russian is cracking. he knows that Ukraine will move only after it gets pressure from its financer. which is working as we can see Ukraine conduct two small scare offensives in the north and south of Bakhmut only to be drawn into killing zones.

I mean I do get that this is literally TL;DR, but some of the facts and reasons are clearly misjudged and are a result of a fast-paced overview of the major media outlets without any drilldown beyond the main talking heads. wanker group was never left without ammo, but rather – they used this reason to justify them loosing ground. Ukraine did not yet try gaining territories in Bakhmut itself – we did ran an operation to secure roads to the garrison, with another plan of attack in mind.
Downing street piece was definitely more important than reporting actual information on a war with millions of civilian casualties, that some good reporting done there.
