Diane von Furstenberg called her show today “Oasis,” which she explained further in her show notes saying, “Be your own oasis . . . an unexpected source of renewal, serenity and beauty. There were safari shirts and dresses, bold cobalt and red frocks, zebra prints, and gold, coated leather. The designer embraced the crop top trend too–showing a few crops-and-skirt combos (one of which featured a cork print). There was also a ’70s glam feel to the collection. As with Diane von Furstenberg’s current ad campaign, in which Daria Werbowy is a dead ringer for a young Diane, the label seems to be channeling the designer in her heady Studio 54 days. “What I’m hoping is that people feel joie de vivre, happiness, and beauty in a world that is so rough, so unpredictable, and scary,” von Furstenberg said in the speech before her show.
