UN: ‘Strong suspicions’ that Syrian rebels have used sarin nerve gas

Published

on

http://www.euronews.com/ UN human rights investigators say they have strong suspicions but not absolute proof that Syrian rebel forces have used the nerve gas sarin.

It follows interviews with victims and doctors in neighbouring countries.

“We collected some witness testimony that made to appear that some chemical weapons were used, in particular nerving (sic) gas and what appears to our investigation (was) that that was used by the opponents, by the rebels,” said Carla del Ponte, a member of the UN investigating team who has also served as an international war crimes prosecutor.

The Geneva-based inquiry gave no details as to when or where the nerve gas may have been used.

It did not find evidence that government forces had resorted to chemical weapons.

The US has said it has “varying degrees of confidence” that Syria’s government has used sarin on its people.

Both President al-Assad’s forces and the rebels have accused each other of employing chemical weapons several times.

Sarin has no colour or smell and can be fatal even in small doses.

something more important did you understand or get her specific word usages. she was very specific in saying that it was made to appear there was a gassing. for all we know there is no evidence of the gassing it could be just sheer movie script propaganda. and of course they are aware that we Americans will not question anything as long as they show what appears to be a troubled little child.

Assad is the only thing holding Syria together. If he is overthrown the lives of the Syrian people will be much much worse. Look how free and democratic Iraq is now on the verge of a civil war. Most Iraqis wish they could go back to the time under Saddam. The rebels in Syria are being used to destabilize the country for Israel the US, NATO and not for reasons that benefit the people.

The rebels are the only side which gains an advantage with US or NATO intervention so it makes sense for them to use chemical weapon to draw a response against Syrian defense forces

Not surprising. The rebels were shooting shells into Turkey and blaming it on the Syrian government at the beginning of the war.

That's exactly what they intended for syria. A country that so busy fighting among themselves have no time to fight against Israel.

Al-Qaeda is not the type of organization that you can easily remove. The Syrians who want to get rid of that dictator Assad, are probably not happy with all of their allies. It's a mess: Hamas supports the rebels. Hezbollah supports Assad. Israel is against Assad but also against Hamas. Iran supports Assad. Saudi-Arabia hates Iran, supports the rebels but is against Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda supports the rebels but is against Israel and the USA. The USA has no idea what to do. And the people suffer…

Cognitive dissonance – Get to know these two words. It is the unseen enemy of mankind. It does more to cause war, crime and suffering than anything else, because it prevents people from learning and changing. lol, they just want to justify the bombings and go to war. it was expected that syria would go under in 2 months and their gov has lasted over 2 years. plan b is supply your enemies with weapons then provoke them to start a war. bravo u.n., people wouldnt expect this at all. do you bidding, go to war, leave the u.s. out of it.

well the rebel scum are exposed. since the beginning they were raping girls, looting, beheading, blowing schools up, using children as shields, killing civilians and blaming government, they burned churches and blew up minority mosques and temples. Now clearly they used chemical weapons, and if they win Syria will become another Somalia.
