   Can’t stand a player who wants everything just handed to him. As much as it’s his career and his decision, there a millions of people in this country who would give their right arm to sit on the bench at a major tournament. And like Merse rightly said, there’s opportunities to force your way into the team and potentially become the star of the tournament.

   Don't blame him. Today's players play far more games and at incredible intensity. He will probably get to at least 50 games this year. Probably be mentally physically exhausted and then the prospect of spending another 2 months away from home on your break to sit on the bench when you could be resting

   He's gone to multiple tournaments, and he won't get play time. I can understand not wanting to go for no reason. Might as well just take some time off.

   “I’m Baffled” lol. This is why education is so important because comments like that make one look ridiculous. Baffled by what exactly, a football player deciding to have a bit of a break, mental and physical wellbeing, to focus on something else, protest etc… it’s not exactly new in life, everyone does it. In football we’ve seen many high profile players walk away from international football for all sorts of reasons. Only last year the most high profile case was Mapi Leon and Patri both rejecting the chance to win the World Cup with Spain.

    casuals in the comments mad that an international manager has his favorites… imagine lisandro rejected a world cup winners medal because he knew he wouldnt get minutes over otamendi. or camavinga and maignan rejecting the world cup final experience because of lloris and rabiot. Hes snubbed his country multiple times now and shouldnt be called up again

    I don't get all the pearl clutching with this, he doesn't have to play if he doesn't want to, that's his loss, when his career is over he might look back and think differently. I personally think it's more to do with Southgate and his style of play.

    Ben White has a choice. And it's his own choice. And for whatever reason he made the decision he made it. We can all speculate on this, that and the other but essentially we don't know. It could be a stupid reason to us but a sensible reason for White. Or the other way around.

    I'm a Gooner, and people will think most Gooners are standing by their player. There are Arsenal fans who are livid he hasn't chosen to play for his country. For all we know is he gets homesick and mentally it's not for him, to go abroad and sit around constantly thinking is the manager sticking to his favourites and never going to pick me. White sees what he sees and makes his own decision whether we think it's right or wrong. This constant media bombardment of White's decision to excuse himself from being picked for friendlies is entirely up to him. So much more to this than we know and perhaps neither party want to go public with the reason. It's not our right to know.

    When you have a manager that picks his favourites like Maguire, Phillips, Henderson, rashford. I’m not surprised he had a falling out with the couching staff it’s a joke a team as good as englands being couched by a relegated Middlesbrough couch 😂

    You're baffled? I'm not. Good on Ben White, what on earth is the point of going, only to watch a guy who doesn't play regularly for his club get picked ahead of you game after game. Southgate has turned selection into a farce with the like of Henderson and Maguire regularly getting picked. I don't blame Ben White at all for refusing to be selected.
