   Looking back on this now it’s absolutely criminal that Saka wasn’t chose to start by Carney and Neville. Was England’s most in form player at the time and is comfortably their second best player with Kane.

   Redknapps 4-3-3 with Foden left midfield is 100% our best formation! He’s exactly the type of player every team need in that position! He’s wasted as a winger, the more he gets the ball and is able to link play the better! Having Rice as cover and letting Bellingham’s a Foden move the ball forward has the potential to beat any team!
   Kane as a False 9 with Grealish/Rashford on the left and Sterling/Saka on the right. I’d start with Sterling and Grealish! Saka is good but Sterling is arguably our best or most consistent player! Always dangerous!
   The only things I disagree with are Saka instead of Sterling, Trippier instead of Walker or Trent and you can’t play Pope instead of Pickford!! Pope didn’t look confident in the games before the World Cup!

   Have to say Gary you were wrong about not having time to switch to 4 at the back.

   I hope he doesn’t go back to a back 3 v USA, Wales and assuming they get through in the knockout stages.

   Karen and JC were closest with formation and personnel. 10/11.

   4-3-3 accentuates the midfield and up front. Bring in Phillips to protect the weak link of Maguire if necessary.

    Some solid logic from most of the panel tbf. I was most drawn to Redknapp's optimistic and I think realistic approach of trying to push England in the direction of being a team that has more control in the game. Our defence is on the decline in recent years, playing defensive invites pressure and makes it hard to suddenly change things and score on demand when you're in trouble. It makes even less sense when we do have players who can control games and do well in attacking positions. Unfortunately, Southgate will stick with what he knows rather than adapt to what suits the strength of the current team best.

    I think you go with the form players in the debted positions to start in the first game. That means Ben White, it means Trippier It means Saka.
