UK climate pledge: Uk aims to reduce annual carbon emissions by 68% by 2030
The British Prime Minister will pledge to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions ‘further and faster than any major economy’.
Today, Boris Johnson is to set a new target to cut two-thirds of emissions within the next ten years, compared with 1990 levels. The plan is to set the country on the path to being carbon neutral by 2050. He is calling for world leaders to bring forward their own targets comes ahead of next week’s Climate Ambition Summit – a virtual event which the UK will co-host.
