Thailand’s prime minister is facing a no-confidence vote in parliament brought by the opposition Democrat Party in an escalating bid to overthrow her.
On Monday protesters who accuse Yingluck Shinawatra of being a puppet for her brother Thaksin swarmed several key ministry buildings calling on her to quit.
Although the leader of the opposition is outnumbered in parliament the unrest on the streets is growing.
Describing the protesters’ actions as a threat to stability, Yingluck has invoked special powers to maintain security. However she did not sanction the use of force to break-up the occupation of government buildings.
