Netanyahu to Europe leaders: no apology over settlements

Published

on

http://www.euronews.com/ The Israeli prime minister has remained defiant over controversial settlement plans during a visit to Europe, as Israel presses ahead with proposals to build in one of the most sensitive areas of the occupied West Bank.

In Prague small numbers of demonstrators turned out both for and against the Israeli cause.

Benjamin Netanyahu had come to thank the Czech Republic for voting against the Palestinians’ diplomatic upgrade to non-member observer status at the United Nations.

He praised his hosts for opposing what he called a “one-sided” resolution. Israel would not sacrifice its “vital interests for the sake of obtaining the world’s applause”.

“For peace to endure, it must be a peace that we can defend. No other peace can survive in the Middle East. We remain committed, as you said, to a negotiated settlement between us and our Palestinian neighbours,” said Netanyahu.

European Union states have been struggling to agree on a common response to the building plans.
The EU, in line with several countries, has summoned Israel’s ambassador for an explanation.

The President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, again denounced the proposed construction.

“The E1 settlement announced by Israel is a red line. I tell you, a red line. Not because it divides the West Bank, and this is correct, but just because it’s settlement activity. So we say this should not happen, and if it will happen we will take legitimate steps and by law, stop Israel from doing this,” he said.

Netanyahu was due next in Germany where Chancellor Merkel was expected to warn him that Israel risked diplomatic isolation.

Back in Israel the first administrative wheels began turning to put the settlement plan on the road.

I'm talking about the current situation of the european economy and you start to argue about the plan marshall. Obviously by that time the EU even didn't exist. To answer that I could tell you how the spanish and french helps the continental army to win the independence for what is now the US. However the thread is the situation nowadays.

Ancient history, I'm talking about the recent one. About Russia, are we talking about the same country that Iran owes its existence? As you said.

So you can't even bring a single phrase from the Quran?? About the PLO what recent violent actions they carried on against Israel or their illegal settlements? Still, zionists keep building.

It is the path that the radicals on both sides have chosen, a single state for two peoples. Nobody is going to leave the land and the occupation will not last forever.

If Israel would fall like the ussr the only responsibles would be the radical zionists who want all the land between the mediterranean sea to the jordan river. killing the two state solution. The palestinian doesn't leave the land so in the end isralies and palestinians will have to share the land.

And for "US aid for EU" What are you talking about? the aid to EU countries is basically GERMAN. As for Egypt their economy depends of western aid but not their existence as a country. Israel is more a political regime than a country. The day that they finish the occupation of the West Bank, retreats to the green line and defines their borders alonside to a independent palestinian state, then that day Israel could be seen as a country.

What aid gives Russia to Iran? Unlike the relation between Israel and US, Iran has to pay for everything that comes from Russia, even then the russians had delayed for many years the opening of Busher nuclear plant, refused to delivered the S-300 to Iran and don't forget that the same country voted in favour of several UN resolutions and sanctions. Russia isn't even one of the major trade partners of Iran. So russian aid? yeah right.

Without western aid Israel couldn't stand as a country.

ofcourse i have thought about this, but is this not the same viewpoint of the creation of yugoslavia, and then the creation of countries such as albania and croatia and others. but my point was how can an undemocratic country any 'undemocratic' country run to a democratic organisation within reason. it defeats all morals of democracy and all points of the creation of such establishments

You are absolutely right, very rarely does any one speak about the ethnic cleansing of over 950,000 jews from middle -eastern countries, the confiscation of property, businesses. Their descendents now number over 4 million, most in Israel and the U.S. there can be no peace until these wrongs are righted.

All through my life i've seen atrocious acts from both sides…..PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE JEWS NEED A PLACE TO CALL HOME, & IF WE BEING MUSLIMS TAKE THE RIGHT ACTION, WE CAN LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE….

The Palestinians going to the UN is the ultimate act of multilateralism.
It is Israel that continues to act unilaterally and untimately illegally according to international law.
