Exactly what I've been saying for decades… the vote of We the People for a president isn't worth doodly-squat. I wouldn't waste my time voting for a president and 300 million other voters voting for the same Party candidate can not get that choice of those voters a win. The system is corrupt. Change the Constitution? The DemonKraps have consistently trampled the Constitution since it became law.

This is slightly wrong. Each state' electoral votes aren't individual electors. it's a number based off the population. Same with how congress and the senate are made up. If there was an individual elector per electoral vote, theoretically, a states votes could be split. This is not the case. All of a states votes are together, never split. this is because popular vote on the state level decides the ALL the electoral votes outcome. Majority votes red, All votes go red. Majority votes blue, ALL votes go blue. There aren't individuals who decide the final outcome of each state. That would be election meddling. I don't know why there is so much misinformation on this topic.

Even though the founding founders never thought about issues of illegal immigration changing voting numbers, now you see why the Electoral College is more important than a popular vote.

The flaw with democracy is numbers. Popular in most cases doesn't mean right.

Let accume we have 8 men and 2 women in a room. And a vote was meant to be passed to abuse the women, in popular vote, the men can override the women's votes, yet that act is abominable. But in the situation where each gender bracket decides, that is a 1 to 1 tally.

They should! This doesn’t make any sense to me! My opinion it should be a election, every registered living citizen’s vote should count as the same! My opinion!

So my vote does count in the long run. As long as my vote counts I’m ok either way at this point

You fail to explain the role of slavery and the 3/5ths compromise. Slave states wanted power from their slaves but clearly would not let them vote which means a popular vote was out. Remember that the father of the Constitution, James Madison favored a popular vote.

Unsure if it’s true democratic votes to be honest, as true democracy counts votes based on popularity and, not electoral individuals. Vote for Trump to save America and the world 🌎!

It amazes me when people try to explain the Electoral College to choose the President and Vice President, because they are totally Wrong!!! The electoral college is a civil war era creation, I would say it started somewhere between 1825 to 1850, because before then each state had electors that voted, however, Jefferson did corrupt the system, not with the 12th amendment, but during the 4th election cycle when he was the Vice President when he orchestrated the tie with Burr, which only could have happened if he tampered with the electors and their votes to place his name on one of their two ballots and Burr’s name on their other ballot, skullduggery which should have been caught by, the President of the Senate, and who was the President of the Senate, Jefferson!

The electoral process for choosing the President and Vice President is consensus choice, where those making the choice, the States, must also identify and rank the candidates, and that’s the job of the electors, the electors make a list of qualified candidates that they identified and vetted themselves, then the States lists are compiled in congress to form an aggregate ranked list of candidates and the top candidates on that aggregate ranked list, top 3 on the aggregate list for President and top 2 on the aggregate list for vice president, form the ballots of candidates that the States in congress consider and make the choice by vote, 1 vote per State, and a majority of all the States is necessary to the choice.

How we got to the totally bastardized system where the electors are superfluous to the process is beyond my ability to comprehend, but it mainly transitioned into a way for the parties to guarantee that they would raise one of their own to the presidency by controlling the ballot, which is in direct opposition to the constitutionally established process for that purpose!

For real Democracy in the USA, the USA needs to have a mandatory third political party and remove the unfair and politcally & morally illegal Electoral College. There is no reason why a citizen from some state should have more voting power than a citizen from another state. Equal voting rights should be it. Popular Vote is a must as it is anywhere else.

This is honestly why i dont see the point on votibg for oresident theyre going to vote however they want, our opinons dont matter. The people have an illusion of freedom and choice (a lot of people still believe were a democracy) but america runs off captilism and greed, they "give" just enough to the masses to keeo them pacified and going along with it. Im hoping more people make this a concern and it gets changed one daym also i hate how its vote for one of the 2 evils weve chosen like it matters most elections. I feel like how the party debates start iff dhould be how the whole thing is. Several runners, and get rid of parties.

First of all the USA is not a democracy but a democratic Republic.
The US is so big that if we didn’t have the electoral collage than only the big cities would dictate what’s best for the whole country. Plus candidates would only visit a few states.
