From the vagina to the clitoris: Has the medical world finally stopped ignoring female bodies?
We don’t even have a good scientific term for the female anatomy that science journalist and author Rachel E Gross writes about in her book ‘Vagina Obscura’. The ‘reproductive system’ is the usual term, “which includes the vulva, the clitoris, the vagina, the ovaries and the uterus and all the tubes and plumbing therein,” explains Gross. But to her, this term is too limited:
“All of these organs are doing so much more than making a baby or waiting around to potentially make a baby. They’re involved in regeneration, immunity, pleasure, sexuality.”
From the effect that sexism in science has had on chronic conditions like endometriosis, to exciting new research that is looking at the ovaries and uterus in a new light, in this episode of Rethink Rachel E Gross explains the knowledge gap around the female body and how medicine and science may finally be giving it the attention it rightfully deserves.

I don't get it, each time there's a video about vaginas or clits, it has to be some woman with an insane haircut and crazy hair colors. Am I missing something ? Is it required to be an authority in such a field?
