Bloody weekend in Sanaa as UN debates Yemen
http://www.euronews.net/ Machine gun fire and shelling rocked the Yemeni capital Sanaa overnight as a bloody weekend drew to a close with a confrontation between government forces and those of dissident general Ali Moshen.
It is thought some 20 civilians and soldiers have been killed since Saturday in the latest protests over President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s 33-year rule.
The uprising in Yemen has not always drawn as much attention as those in other countries, although demonstrators are regularly killed in government efforts to quash the unrest.
